According to RT, the meeting between the Russian and US Foreign Ministers on September 24 lasted less than an hour, mainly revolving around the conflict in Ukraine.
"The Secretary (Rubio) reiterated President Trump's call for an end to the conflict and urged Russia to take steps toward a lasting resolution to the conflict with Ukraine," the US State Department said in a statement.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov gave more details about the content of the talks, emphasizing that he and his US counterpart agreed to "continue constructive dialogue between the Russian and US Foreign Ministries " as well as reaffirm the importance of the Alaska summit for "normalizing bilateral relations".
"Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed Moscow's readiness to adhere to the guidelines set by the Russian and US leaders in Alaska, including coordinating efforts with the US side to resolve the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The meeting comes after US President Donald Trump dramatically changed his stance on the conflict. In a post on Truth Social on September 23, President Trump said he believed Kiev was "in a position to fight and take back the territory", with support from the European Union (EU) and NATO. He also said Moscow was facing major economic difficulties. However, Moscow appeared to reject the "hostile" words from Washington.
On the same day, September 24, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RBC Radio that Ukraine did not really want to make the necessary efforts to negotiate peace with Russia.
