According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, Dong Nai will continue to make breakthroughs to build a modern and happy new rural area. The province will continue to focus on developing production, constantly increasing people's income, always considering this as the foundation in building a new rural area.
Comprehensive improvement of rural areas
Before the merger, Dong Nai province (old) always maintained its leading position in the country in building new rural areas with 114/116 communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards, 43 communes meeting model new rural standards; 5/9 advanced new rural districts. Xuan Loc district (old) completed the Project to build Xuan Loc district to meet model new rural standards in the direction of developing sustainable agricultural commodity production in the period 2018-2025.
Up to now, the rate of commune roads managed, asphalted or concreted has reached nearly 100%. The school system at all levels has been consolidated and upgraded with 100% meeting standards in terms of facilities; the rate of schools at all levels recognized as meeting national standards has reached more than 80%. The system of cultural, information and communication institutions has well met the needs of cultural enjoyment and information access of rural residents. People's Committees of communes have applied information technology in management and operation. 100% of communes have health stations meeting national standards, of which a number of commune health stations have been upgraded to polyclinics and regional health centers. The rate of people participating in health insurance in 2024 will reach 94%.
Rural commercial infrastructure has been invested in and completed with 91 rural markets. In addition, a system of retail establishments, general stores, convenience stores, and supermarkets has been invested in to meet the needs of buying, selling, and exchanging goods of people in rural areas.
Implementing the Movement "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas" in the period of 2021-2025, Binh Phuoc province (old) has mobilized nearly 4.3 trillion VND to invest in building new rural areas. Since then, the program has achieved encouraging results with a comprehensive change in the face of the countryside, synchronous development of infrastructure with many highlights and outstanding features.
Up to now, Binh Phuoc province (old) has invested in nearly 2,900 roads with a total length of more than 9,100 km. Of which, the main traffic routes and provincial, communal, inter-commune, inter-village and inter-group roads have been asphalted and concreted nearly 100% combined with the installation of street lights. In particular, along with the implementation of many main traffic routes, connecting regions to expand development space and attract investment, most localities are shifting to the direction of expanding rural roads. Previously, traffic routes were only 2.5-3m wide, now they are upgraded and expanded to 4m or more. In particular, in recent years, people in Binh Phuoc (old) have actively responded to the Land Donation Movement for traffic roads, cultural houses, etc. In some localities, people donate dozens of hectares of land/year, handing over the site to construction units to build rural infrastructure.
Along with the goal of continuing to invest synchronously in rural infrastructure associated with production development, Dong Nai province pays great attention to improving and preserving the rural environment; forming and widely developing models of environmental protection, replicating roads and model residential areas, ensuring light - green - clean - beautiful.
Continue to create new breakthroughs
In the process of building new rural areas, Dong Nai province always pays attention to investing in developing remote areas, disadvantaged ethnic minority areas, creating a new look, a colorful picture in the countryside. This is the condition, premise, and solid stepping stone for localities to proactively integrate and develop in the new period, taking the lead in building advanced and modern new rural areas.
Secretary of the Party Cell of Hamlet 4, Phuoc Son Commune, Bui Van Loi, shared: “This is a remote commune with many ethnic minority households living with poor infrastructure. However, thanks to the New Rural Development Program, the rural appearance in the locality is increasingly prosperous and prosperous. In particular, the inter-village and inter-hamlet transportation system has been completed and connected smoothly. From there, not only is traveling and trading goods convenient, but it is also an important condition to promote the transformation of crop and livestock structures, increasing income for people.”

Orienting the construction of new rural areas in the coming period, localities in the province continue to focus on developing production, constantly improving people's income, always considering this as the root in building new rural areas. In particular, the province focuses on investing in research, transfer, and application of scientific and technological advances in agricultural production. Attracting investment in preserving and processing agricultural products and food, considering this a particularly important breakthrough to promote agricultural production and rural economic development. Encouraging businesses and people to transfer and apply high technology, digital transformation, innovation, artificial intelligence in production, business and connecting supply and demand; protecting intellectual property, building brands, promoting e-commerce, tracing origin, controlling product quality and food safety.
Speaking at the National Conference to Summarize the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period held on June 22, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Nai Province Ton Ngoc Hanh (former Secretary of the former Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee) said that the results of implementing the New Rural Construction Program of the province have brought about many remarkable changes. The appearance of the countryside has changed greatly; the infrastructure system has been invested in more spacious and synchronously. In particular, the material and spiritual life of rural people has been increasingly improved. These are practical achievements, contributing to the overall success of the New Rural Construction Program.
Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh affirmed that when the province reorganizes its administrative apparatus and personnel, it believes that there will be more room and favorable conditions to continue investing and completing the goals in building new rural areas. Communes that meet advanced new rural standards and model new rural areas are aiming to strongly apply science and technology and digital transformation.
