Finding ways to adapt to climate change.
Opening the dialogue, Ms. Hoang Thi My Linh, from Cao Lang village, Dak D'rong commune, Cu Jut district, shared: In recent years, the agricultural sector of Dak Nong province has suffered heavy losses due to climate change.
So, in the coming period, what directions and solutions will the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments implement to help farmers achieve sustainable agricultural production and adapt to climate change?

Regarding this matter, Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, shared: Climate change is a very pressing issue that receives the attention of all of us.
Agriculture is a sector vulnerable to climate change. In light of this situation, based on the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advised on the issuance of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU dated August 17, 2022, of the Provincial Party Committee on sustainable agricultural development and adaptation to climate change.

Mr. Pham Tuan Anh also shared that in 2024, Dak Nong was affected by natural disasters, resulting in damage to over 8,000 hectares of crops. However, thanks to proactive solutions and the adaptability of farmers, the impact was significantly minimized.
In the long term, the agricultural sector and the province have implemented solutions that have yielded positive results. First and foremost is the solution regarding crop diversification. Monoculture crops are being converted to multi-crop, multi-layered farming to reduce risks.
The province encourages farmers to change their farming methods. They are combining traditional and modern production, limiting the use of harmful chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and switching to organic production, saving input costs and increasing product value.

Furthermore, thanks to support programs and projects, farmers have gradually organized production towards reducing emissions. Specifically, in Gia Nghia and Dak R'lap districts, 3,000 hectares of coffee plantations are now producing coffee using emission-reduction methods. These are solutions and methods implemented by the agricultural sector and the Provincial People's Committee.
"In the coming time, the province will support farmers in selecting crop varieties that are more resistant to diseases and pests, saving water, and contributing to sustainable agricultural development," said Mr. Pham Tuan Anh.
Attracting investment in agriculture
Mr. Vu Thanh Hoai, Director of Farm Cooperative in Thuan Ha commune, Dak Song district, asked: What policies does the Provincial People's Committee have to attract investment in building factories for preliminary processing, preservation, and processing of agricultural products, creating jobs for rural workers and forming a model of agricultural product consumption linkage between businesses and farmers through cooperatives?

Regarding this matter, Mr. Tran Dinh Ninh, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, shared that Resolution No. 31 of the Provincial People's Council, issued on December 31, 2023, includes provisions for substantial support to cooperatives, potentially up to 1.2 billion VND for purchasing machinery and equipment, and up to 3 billion VND for constructing workshops and processing areas.
In addition, there is Prime Minister 's Decision 167 on developing model cooperatives; and Provincial People's Committee Decision 677 on supporting investment in production development along the value chain.

The province's investment attraction policy includes Resolution 25, issued at the end of 2023, on supporting businesses, including those in agriculture.
In 2024, the province allocated 5 billion VND to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to support four cooperatives. Despite facing many difficulties, during the 2021-2025 period, the province provided tens of billions of VND in support to businesses and cooperatives to develop production and business activities.
On the afternoon of December 27, 2024, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Nong province, Ho Van Muoi, chaired the 2024 Dialogue Conference with Farmers. The conference was attended by over 200 delegates, including farmers and representatives from cooperatives and cooperative groups in Dak Nong province.
