This year's pomelo harvest in Thuong Loc commune (Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province) is estimated to yield over 800 tons of fruit, bringing in an economic value of approximately 17 billion VND.
Thuong Loc pomelos are grown primarily in the villages of Nam Phong, Thanh My, Son Binh, Anh Hung, etc.
Thuong Loc commune currently has 121 hectares of pomelo orchards, of which about 71 hectares are in the harvesting season, mainly concentrated in the villages of Nam Phong, Thanh My, Son Binh, Anh Hung, etc.
This year, despite the drought at the beginning of the season, thanks to proactive measures taken by the people beforehand, such as drilling additional wells and watering directly at the base of the trees, the pomelo crop is still bountiful.
To date, approximately 80% of the pomelo crop in Thuong Loc commune has been harvested.
Although the pomelos are smaller than before, they have thinner skins and are sweeter. According to locals, the selling price this year is similar to previous years, averaging from 15,000 to 25,000 VND per fruit. The estimated yield is over 800 tons, with an economic value of approximately 17 billion VND.
Pomelos from Thuong Loc are being purchased directly from the orchards by traders, and about 80% of the harvest has been completed so far.
