The demand for cooling equipment is increasing.

At the beginning of summer, Hai Phong experienced consecutive days of sweltering heat with outdoor temperatures commonly reaching 38-40 degrees Celsius, causing a sudden surge in demand for cooling devices among residents.

At many electronics supermarkets and appliance stores in the city, the number of customers buying air conditioners, electric fans, and air coolers has increased many times compared to before.

On the morning of May 26th, according to observations by reporters from Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television, at Mediamart Hai Phong on Le Hong Phong Street, Gia Vien Ward, many customers came to inquire about and order heat-resistant equipment from early morning.

Mr. Hoang Huy Duc from the City's Investment and Construction Project Management Board, along with his colleagues, took the opportunity to buy air coolers for the office.

According to Mr. Duc, the extremely hot weather caused the fans and air conditioners in the office to run continuously, but it was still not enough to cool the room. To ensure the health of officials and employees during work, the agency decided to add more high-capacity evaporative coolers.

Meanwhile, at the air conditioner sales area, Mr. Vu Van Hoa said: "My house already has air conditioners in the bedrooms, but the living room only uses an electric fan. These days the temperature is rising, and the air inside the house is always stuffy, so my family decided to install an air conditioner to ensure our health."

With the scorching hot weather, the demand for air conditioners in Hai Phong has surged.
from the early days of summer.

According to Ms. Vo Thi Quynh, product manager at Mediamart Hai Phong, since mid-May, the demand for cooling equipment has increased sharply, especially during days when temperatures consistently reached 38-40 degrees Celsius. On average, the supermarket sells about 15-20 air conditioners and 20-25 fans of various types each day, a threefold increase compared to the previous month.

Customers currently prioritize inverter air conditioners that are energy-efficient, operate stably, and consume less electricity. In addition, evaporative air coolers and misting fans are also selling well because they are suitable for open spaces or families looking to save on electricity costs.

Not only large supermarkets, but also many small appliance stores in the city have recorded a sharp increase in sales. At Ngoc Lu electrical store in residential area 7, Bach Dang ward, Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc, the owner, said that in recent days, customers have been coming continuously to buy electric fans and air conditioners. At times, some fan models sold out quickly, forcing the store to order more stock from suppliers.

Despite high demand, the prices of cooling equipment remain relatively stable. A plentiful supply was prepared well in advance of the summer season, so there has been no shortage or price increase.

Inverter air conditioners currently cost from around 6-7 million VND upwards, while electric fans range from a few hundred thousand VND to nearly 3 million VND per product. Many electronics supermarkets are also implementing discount programs to stimulate consumer demand. At shopping centers like Nguyen Kim and Mediamart Hai Phong, programs such as "Brilliant Summer - Fans discounted up to 50%" are attracting many customers.

Air conditioner installers are in high demand.

With the scorching heat, the demand for air conditioners in Hai Phong has increased significantly since the beginning of summer.
Due to the high demand for air conditioners, shopping centers, supermarkets, and electronics stores in the city are short of installers.

Along with the surge in demand, air conditioner installation services are also experiencing an overload these days. Many customers have to wait from a few days to a week for a technician to come and install the unit.

On the morning of May 26th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, residing on Cau Dat Street, stopped by the Nguyen Kim Shopping Center on Luong Khanh Thien Street (in Gia Vien Ward) on her way home from work to purchase an additional air conditioner worth approximately 10 million VND for her living room. Despite paying a deposit that same day, she was told that a technician from the center wouldn't be able to install it until four days later. “My house already has four air conditioners, and even though the living room has one, I need another one to keep it cool enough. I'm willing to wait a few days because all the air conditioner installers are fully booked at this time,” Ms. Ha said.

According to Mr. Pham Quoc Hung, manager of Nguyen Kim Shopping Center, the center sells 15-20 air conditioners every day, not including various types of fans. The rapidly increasing number of orders has kept the technical team working at almost full capacity.

The center currently has about 10 air conditioner installers, but they still can't keep up with customer demand. Each air conditioner requires at least two technicians and about two hours of work to complete. Therefore, the technicians have to work continuously from morning to night. For customers who live far away, the center has to schedule an installation a week in advance.

People were seen buying fans and air conditioners at Ngoc Lu electrical store in residential area 7, Bach Dang ward on the afternoon of May 26th.

At smaller retail stores, the shortage of technicians is even more pronounced. Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc said that normally her store has one technician dedicated to air conditioner installation, but now she has to hire additional seasonal workers and still doesn't have enough staff. Technicians mainly prioritize installing new air conditioners, leaving almost no time to repair old units.

According to meteorological forecasts, the widespread heatwave in the Northern region will continue for several more days with temperatures commonly ranging from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some areas. In particular, high temperatures persist from around 8-9 am until 7 pm, creating a constantly hot and stuffy atmosphere.

Therefore, the demand for cooling equipment is projected to continue increasing sharply in the coming period. However, with abundant supply, stable prices, and many promotional programs, people in Hai Phong have the opportunity to choose suitable products to protect their health and improve their quality of life during the hot summer months.
