A few months after graduating from the Faculty of Economic Law (Hue University of Law), Nong Thi Lan worked at a private company to gain practical experience and professional knowledge. The job was quite stable, but her burning desire to wear the People's Police uniform remained strong.

“Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a police officer, but I didn't meet the height requirement by the time I was in 12th grade, so I had to put it on hold. After graduating from university, I learned that I could fulfill my dream by joining the People's Police Force, so I volunteered. I hope that after completing my two years of service, I will have the opportunity to stay and work here long-term,” Lan shared.

The female graduate in Economic Law said that this decision did not stem from a momentary, impulsive thought, but had been nurtured since her years in university. At that time, she expressed her desire to participate in military service to her family and received support from her parents and older brother.

According to Lan, her parents understand that this is not just a personal dream, but also an opportunity for her to train, grow, and contribute to society.

In her story, Lan repeatedly mentions the image of the heroine Vo Thi Sau as a powerful source of inspiration, motivating the slender girl to join the armed forces.

Two months of military training at Hue University, with scorching hot days on the training ground, resounding commands, and perfectly synchronized footsteps, became an invaluable experience for Lan. This strictly disciplined environment instilled in her neatness, self-discipline, and adaptability.

Lan confided: “Once I have developed a sense of discipline, I believe I will easily adapt to life and regulations within the People's Armed Forces. Furthermore, the legal knowledge I have acquired will help me apply it to practical work when I join the People's Police force.”

When possible, Lan goes to the boxing gym to train her physical fitness and improve her endurance. Lan affirms: “Health is the most important factor. To successfully complete my duties, I must have a solid physical foundation.”

When asked if she had any hesitation about her decision, Lan firmly stated: "If I had to decide again, I would still volunteer to enlist, because that's the path I truly want to take."

Sharing her perspective on choosing this path, the young female graduate said that many young people fear that the military and police environment will be difficult and arduous, but she believes that only by directly experiencing it can one understand the sacrifices our ancestors made to achieve the life we have today. She believes that since the younger generation is fortunate to have access to education and knowledge, they should apply it to serve the nation.
