After graduating from university, while many young people go to big cities to find stable jobs with good income, Nong Thi Lan (born 2003, residing in Kơ Nia village, Ia Pa commune, Gia Lai province) chose to volunteer to join the People's Public Security force.

A few months after graduating from the Faculty of Economic Law (University of Law - Hue University), Nong Thi Lan worked at a private company to accumulate practical experience and professional knowledge. The job was quite stable but the desire to wear the People's Police uniform was still burning in her heart.
“Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a police officer, but by the time I was in 12th grade, I was still not tall enough, so I had to put it aside. After graduating from university, through research, I learned that I could fulfill my dream by joining the People's Police service, so I volunteered to do so. Hopefully, after completing 2 years of service, I will have the opportunity to stay and work long-term,” Lan shared.
The female Bachelor of Economic Law said that this decision did not come from a momentary, impulsive thought but had been nurtured since her years in the classroom. At that time, she expressed to her family her desire to join the military service and was supported by her parents and brother.
According to Lan, her parents understand that this is not only a personal dream but also an opportunity for her to practice, mature and contribute to society.

In her story, Lan repeatedly mentioned the image of heroine Vo Thi Sau as a strong source of inspiration, urging the slender girl to join the armed forces.
Two months of military training at Hue University with the scorching days on the training ground, the loud shouts of commands and the synchronized steps became an extremely valuable experience for Lan. It was this strict disciplinary environment that trained her to be orderly, self-disciplined and adaptable.
Lan confided: “Once I have formed a sense of discipline, I believe I will easily integrate into life and the regulations in the People's Armed Forces. Moreover, the knowledge of law that I have been equipped with will help me apply it to practical work when I am in the ranks of the People's Public Security.”

To prepare for the day of enlistment, Nong Thi Lan is spending time preparing her health. Every day, the young girl follows a reasonable diet to gain weight. When she has the opportunity, Lan goes to the boxing gym to train her body and improve her endurance. Lan affirmed: "Health is the most important factor. To complete the task well, one must have a solid physical foundation."
When asked if she had any hesitation about her decision, Lan firmly said: "If I had to decide again, I would still volunteer to join the army, because that is the path I really want to take."

Sharing her views on choosing this path, the young female graduate said that many young people are afraid that the military and police environment will be difficult and miserable, but she thinks that only when you experience it directly can you understand how much our ancestors sacrificed to have the life we have today. Our young generation is fortunate to study and access a lot of knowledge, so we need to apply it to serve the Fatherland.
