According to the announcement of the authorities of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (China), actress Nashi registered for the 2008 gaokao as a graduate of Hohhot No. 8 High School. However, the investigation showed that she had never attended the school and did not have any official student records. This is considered an act of “admission fraud”.

Nashi is gaining attention for her role as a female general in the film Phong Than II - the third highest-grossing work during the 2024 Lunar New Year in China. She also appears in a currently airing TV series.

In a recent interview, Nashi said she graduated from the Shanghai Drama Academy under a training program ordered by the local government for ethnic minority and disadvantaged areas, with a commitment that students would return to their hometowns to work after graduation.

However, after graduating from university in 2012, Nashi withdrew his degree to study for a master's degree in Norway, instead of returning to Inner Mongolia to work as promised. This move has caused much controversy and raised questions about the implementation of obligations for those under special training funded by the state budget.

According to local regulations at the time, gaokao candidates had to have a valid household registration and authentic academic records. During the 2008-2020 period, the joint program between Inner Mongolia and the Shanghai Drama Academy recruited students on the condition that they would return to serve their local areas after graduation. Nashi and other students signed a commitment to fulfill this obligation.

Although the re-issuance of Nashi's degree was done legally, the incident has raised alarm bells about the potential for abuse in theeducation system and lax oversight of specialized training programs.

According to China Daily on June 23, Inner Mongolia authorities said they were continuing to investigate and would deal with the individuals involved according to the law. At the same time, the government pledged to review policies and strengthen management to prevent similar incidents in the future.
