Coming out of the Sao Mai 2022 competition as runner-up in the Light Music category, Doan Hong Hanh joined the Navy Art Troupe. Because she also loves the sea, she agreed to become a navy soldier even though she knew it would be very hard. Here, Doan Hong Hanh was given a special rank and is currently a Lieutenant. Since then, she has been able to perform everywhere to serve navy soldiers as well as people in coastal areas.
Having just returned from his third trip serving soldiers on Truong Sa island, Lieutenant Doan Hong Hanh still feels proud and emotional, especially since there are only a few days left to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Navy Art Troupe as well as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Navy.

"The three trips brought me different memories and emotions, each time with its own surprise and pride. The first time I went to Truong Sa was the trip that made me most proud because of the surge of national pride. Each trip left me with memorable and unforgettable memories," Hong Hanh shared.
For a navy soldier like Doan Hong Hanh, seasickness on the island is a natural thing and she has to overcome it as a challenge for a soldier. Every year, the navy art troupe makes a trip to the island to bring songs as spiritual food to the soldiers serving in Truong Sa.

Doan Hong Hanh shared with VietNamNet: "The stage there is very different from the stages we have performed on. Usually the stages I have performed on are very sparkling, with lots of light and many audiences. But the stage on the island is sometimes just a small corner of the yard, a hall or a corner of a house.
This trip to Song Tu Tay Island, when we were singing, the weather was beautiful but suddenly a rainstorm came. So we all went under the coconut tree to sing, it was so much fun.''
Lieutenant Doan Hong Hanh recounted that her first trip to Truong Sa had a memory that she would probably never forget in her life. There were only a few people on the island, including a very young soldier in his late teens.

"We sang a few songs and then she asked if she could sing a song for us. She sang about missing home and then burst into tears. She said: Don't go home! I just want you to stay here forever to sing like this. We hugged each other and cried like that until we had to leave. She looked after us, waved and cried, making us feel reluctant. Even now, when I think back to that moment, I'm still moved," the singer born in 1995 shared.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Navy Art Troupe, Doan Hong Hanh feels even more proud to bring songs to serve the soldiers in Truong Sa.
Lieutenant Doan Hong Hanh sings with soldiers on Da Tay Island (Truong Sa):
The female naval lieutenant told her that performing while still tired and exhausted from seasickness was very normal. "For us naval artists, even though we were seasick, we still sang normally. Sometimes when the waves were big and we were standing on the rocking ship, we ran and sang even though we were very tired.
There were days when we went to 2 islands and at night we interacted with the soldiers on the ship, so we sang 3 songs a day, continuously for 7 days like that. On the last day, we were exhausted and seasick, but we forgot all our tiredness to sing because we knew the soldiers were waiting for us. The more we did that, the more enthusiastic and dedicated we had to be," Doan Hong Hanh shared.
The singer said that every time she returned from a trip to Truong Sa, she lost weight. On her most recent trip, Doan Hong Hanh lost 2kg. However, to her, her fatigue and hardship were nothing compared to the sacrifices of the island soldiers who were extremely miserable and deprived.

As a singer in the Navy Art Troupe, Doan Hong Hanh admits that she has a harder time than ordinary soldiers. Her relatives also have to accept the disadvantages. Because the days Doan Hong Hanh serves on the island also mean that her phone has no signal and communication becomes difficult. However, the singer is still happy with her choice.
"The Navy Art Troupe is about to celebrate its 60th anniversary and as a navy soldier I am very proud. I hope to have many more trips to bring my singing voice to contribute to the Vietnamese Navy. I hope there will be many more MVs about Truong Sa," she said.
