Hermit crabs and a thought-provoking message about life.

Using the image of a "hermit crab" as a recurring metaphor, director Dinh Tuan Vu's film "The Hermit Crab" presents a thought-provoking message: each character is "borrowing" some kind of shell to survive, and in a way, each of us is also a "hermit crab" in our own lives.

"Hermit Crabs" is not just an entertaining film; it opens up a new perspective on relationships that seem familiar but harbor many risks and vulnerabilities.

"The Hermit Crab" is a dramatic film that continues to deeply explore the complicated love triangle within a marriage. However, the work brings a fresh, thrilling twist by not only focusing on the familiar "wife-mistress" conflict, but also boldly exposing shocking secrets behind the glamorous facade of showbiz.

Through the perfect "shell" that each character wears, the film skillfully evokes a theme that stimulates intense curiosity: Are we truly living as ourselves, or are we sometimes just a snail borrowing a body, borrowing a shell to conceal our inner desires?

Director Dinh Tuan Vu shared: "Hermit crabs are actually a type of hermit crab; they cannot survive without borrowing someone else's shell. It's like us; even though we look in the mirror every day, when we go out we always put on a facade. It may not be bad, but it's inextricably linked to and defines who we are, both inside and out."

According to the director, the characters in the film are "optical illusions." Some appear righteous but are actually not. Some characters have a dark exterior but a bright soul; conversely, some appear pure but harbor psychological conflicts and inner obsessions that could harm others.

"Hermit Crab" tells the story of Quân (Quốc Trường), who is heartbroken after his wife An (Yên Đan) died in an accident. A false sense of happiness returns when An's soul enters Ngọc's (Tiểu Vy) body, disrupting their lives and revealing horrifying secrets about her death.

The film features actors Quoc Truong, Tieu Vy, Yen Dan, Anh Pham, Anh Duc, Xuan An, Luong Gia Huy… The biggest surprise is the appearance of musician Nguyen Van Chung.

Director Dinh Tuan Vu said that musician Nguyen Van Chung did not have any scenes cut from the film: "Before choosing musician Nguyen Van Chung, I was very worried because he had never acted in any project before. But somehow, when I met him, talked to him, and watched him audition in a few scenes with his co-stars Quoc Truong, Anh Pham, etc., his demeanor and how he expressed himself almost perfectly matched my vision of the character Mr. Manh. Musician Nguyen Van Chung acted in many scenes very charmingly and surprised me."

The film explores dramatic relationships such as love triangles, the appearance of a "third party," and stories of infidelity—topics that are not new. However, the work chooses a different perspective: delving into the psychology, motivations, and hidden wounds behind each action, thereby offering a fresh and multi-layered approach.
