Olmo's physical condition is alarming. |
The Spanish player has suffered 11 injuries in the last five years, resulting in a total of 377 days sidelined. This means Olmo has missed 33.7% of the matches over the past four and a half seasons.
The 2024/25 season was noted as a period when Olmo had fewer fitness issues, but his extensive injury history remains a big question mark. Since the start of the 2025/26 season, Olmo has suffered moderate recurring injuries, missing 35% of Barca's matches.
His latest injury – a torn muscle in his left calf – will sideline him for at least another three weeks. The problem occurred during the Spanish national team's training camp. Olmo is reportedly unlikely to recover in time for the El Clasico against Real Madrid on October 26th, as well as the crucial matches against Girona (October 18th), Olympiacos (October 21st), and Elche.
The inevitable consequence was Olmo's decline in form and the resulting criticism from Barca fans. According to Catalan media, coach Flick was no longer satisfied with Olmo, as the player was considered to lack dynamism, lose his rhythm in crucial moments, and fail to exploit space at the right time.
Sport fears that if the situation doesn't improve, Olmo will effectively push himself out of Barcelona. His ability to maintain peak form and secure a place in the national team's starting lineup is also seriously threatened ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
