Outgoing Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has said he will return to the leadership of the government if Hun Manet, his son and successor, is in danger of life.

According to Khmer Times, Mr. Hun Sen made the above speech at the inauguration of a ring road 3 in Cambodia this morning (August 3).
“I want to warn you that, if my son is in danger of dying, there is a high probability that I will return to be prime minister. If Hun Manet's life is in danger, I will have to return to be prime minister for a while, then I will decide who can take the position," Hun Sen said.
That will help avoid the country falling into chaos and ensure peace and happiness for the people, the Cambodian leader explained. Mr. Hun Sen also revealed that he had informed the Standing Committee of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) about the decision from December 12.
After the CPP won an overwhelming victory in the general election on July 23, Hun Sen announced on July 7 that he would step down as prime minister and that his successor would be his eldest son – General Hun Manet, Deputy Prime Minister. Commander of the Royal Armed Forces cum Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army.
After stepping down as prime minister, 70-year-old Hun Sen is expected to become president of the Senate and chairman of the Cambodian Royal Council, the nine-member body responsible for selecting the monarch.
