North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a strategic missile base and ordered the strengthening of nuclear deterrence.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on October 23 that leader Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission, inspected the strategic missile base. Accompanying the leader were Kim Jong-sik and Kim Yo-jong, first vice director and vice director of the WPK Central Committee, respectively.

During the inspection, Mr. Kim Jong-un inspected the operational readiness of the strategic deterrence force directly linked to national security.

Noting that the strategic rocket force is the core of the country's war deterrence, Kim Jong-un emphasized the national defense building strategy to comprehensively modernize the armed forces by prioritizing the strategic rocket force.
The North Korean leader said that the US strategic nuclear weapons pose an ever-increasing threat to the security environment, requiring the country to be more resolute in bolstering the deterrence and response readiness of its nuclear forces.
Mr. Kim emphasized the need to modernize and further strengthen strategic missile bases, ensuring readiness to immediately launch strategic counterattacks against enemies in any situation.
