Mr. Toai quickly made up an excuse, saying that the veterans' association had invited him out for drinks, but the family was having a good time, so he didn't answer the phone.
A moment later, Mr. Toai hurriedly ran out to the yard to call back. The person on the other end of the line angrily said, "What are you doing? I've been calling you so many times and couldn't get through. You're borrowing money from someone's wife, and if you keep acting like this, they'll think you're running away from your debt!"
Mr. Toai asserted that he was not evading debt, but was bewildered that the agreement stipulated repayment in a few months, yet now he was being asked to pay immediately, leaving him no time to prepare. "Always? You have to give me a few days to figure things out," Mr. Toai told his creditor.
Meanwhile, Danh (Thanh Sơn) and Trâm Anh (Khả Ngân) have reconciled, and they go for a walk and chat together. Danh feels that things in his family are better now; Phương (Kiều Anh) has returned, Công (Quang Sự) has had his tumor removed, and he will soon undergo chemotherapy. He only hopes that Công will respond well to the medication. Trâm Anh believes that after all the difficulties, everything will be alright for Công and his wife.
Danh confided his innermost thoughts to his wife.
At that moment, Danh remembered Cong's reminder: " Don't let there come a day when you regret it so much that you can't undo it, a day when you long for it so much that you can't touch the person you love."
He confided his long-held secret thoughts to Tram Anh: "At that moment, I was thinking, if one day I didn't have much time left to live, what would I regret the most? And at that time, I only thought of you. I was afraid that because of my stubbornness, I would lose you forever." Tram Anh was surprised by her husband's thoughts and anxieties.
