Reuters reported on January 3rd that the digital payment company PayPal has been accused of racist behavior by an Asian-American businesswoman for restricting access to part of a $535 million investment program.
The PayPal logo is seen in Berlin, Germany.
The investment program, announced by PayPal in June 2020, aims to support businesses owned by people of color and minorities and help reduce economic inequality. In a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, the businesswoman stated: "For PayPal and its executives, Asian Americans may be a minority group, but they are an inappropriate group." PayPal has not commented on the matter.
