ANTD.VN - Agoda, Booking, Paypal, AirBnb have not registered for tax in Vietnam, therefore, the General Department of Taxation requires 100 banks and payment intermediaries to deduct and pay taxes on their behalf.

The Large Enterprise Tax Department said that according to regulations, this unit was assigned by the General Department of Taxation to manage taxes for foreign suppliers (NCCNN). Accordingly, the Large Enterprise Tax Department has proactively reviewed, disseminated, supported, and repeatedly issued documents urging and requiring NCCNNs with e-commerce business activities in Vietnam to register for tax in accordance with the law on tax management.

Up to now, the vast majority of NCCNNs have seriously implemented this regulation. However, there are still a number of NCCNNs that have not yet registered for tax at the General Department of Taxation's e-commerce portal, including 04 NCCNNs doing e-commerce business based on digital platforms that have not yet registered for tax in Vietnam.

Pursuant to the provisions of law, the Large Enterprise Tax Department shall publish the list of information of 04 NCCNN that have not yet registered for tax.

Dù hoạt động tại Việt Nam hàng chục năm nhưng Agoda, Booking vẫn chưa đăng ký thuế

Despite operating in Vietnam for decades, Agoda and Booking have not yet registered for tax.

Based on the list of 04 NCCNNs announced above, the Large Enterprise Tax Department requests relevant state management agencies, including: Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Industry and Trade, State Bank, Ministry of Public Security ... to coordinate in implementing according to their functions, tasks and scope of management, applying appropriate management measures in the management of these NCCNNs.

In a related move, the General Department of Taxation has just sent a document to the headquarters of 100 banks and payment intermediaries requesting them to declare and pay taxes on behalf of 4 foreign suppliers who have not yet registered for tax in Vietnam.

In the document, the General Department of Taxation notifies the head office of the bank and payment intermediary organization of the list of foreign suppliers mentioned above.

"By this document, the General Department of Taxation requests the head offices of banks and payment intermediary service providers to notify the list of the above foreign suppliers to the branches of the banks to declare, deduct, and pay tax obligations on their behalf when making payments for transactions with foreign suppliers according to regulations" - the document of the General Department of Taxation clearly stated.

Agoda, AirBnB, Booking… are known as online travel agents specializing in providing hotel booking services, airline tickets, tours, insurance and other related products.

Despite operating for decades in Vietnam, many of these suppliers have yet to register for tax, despite the tax authorities' many moves to require compliance with this regulation.
