Perisic agrees to join Barcelona

Perisic is ready to join Barcelona.

According to Mundo Deportivo , Perisic is willing to take a pay cut to join the Camp Nou team. The 36-year-old midfielder believes that playing for Barcelona next season will increase his chances of playing for the national team and competing at the 2026 World Cup.

Perisic is a free agent after leaving PSV at the end of the 2024/25 season. The Dutch club have offered the midfielder a two-year extension, but Perisic has not responded.

PSV want to close the deal with Perisic before their first friendly match on July 5 against Real Union. Coach Peter Bosz aims to quickly stabilize the squad to prepare thoroughly for the new season.

Perisic had an impressive season with PSV, scoring 16 goals and adding 11 assists. Barcelona will not have to pay a transfer fee for this deal, which is considered an important factor when other targets such as Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz have cost a lot of money.

Coach Hansi Flick knows Perisic well as the two played together at Bayern Munich and won the 2020 Champions League. Flick appreciates Perisic's experience and versatility, believing that he is a valuable addition with a low cost but great impact, thereby helping Barcelona strengthen the squad, aiming for a more successful season.

At 36, Perisic is still in top form. He recently scored in a 5-1 win over the Czech Republic in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
