On June 1st, detention facilities in Nghe An province held ceremonies to announce the 2026 amnesty decision of the President of Vietnam for 334 eligible inmates.
This is an acknowledgment of the rehabilitation and progress made by those serving sentences, and at the same time demonstrates the lenient and humane policy of the Party and the State.
At Prison No. 3 (Department of Police for Prison Management, Compulsory Education Facilities, and Juvenile Detention Centers - Ministry of Public Security ), 68 inmates were granted amnesty in this round. Attending the announcement ceremony was Major General Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Police for Administrative Management of Social Order, and Member of the Ministry of Public Security's Amnesty Steering Committee.

Following the announcement of the President 's amnesty decision, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and Prison No. 3 presented amnesty certificates, identity cards, and free phone SIM cards to inmates returning to their localities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Member of the Ministry of Public Security's Amnesty Steering Committee - congratulated the inmates who received amnesty, and expressed his hope that they would continue to strive to overcome their feelings of shame, strictly abide by the law, actively engage in production, stabilize their lives, and become useful citizens to society.

For inmates currently serving their sentences, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security encouraged them to continue studying, working, and reforming well so that they could be considered for leniency policies in the near future.
Immediately after the announcement ceremony, Prison No. 3 completed the necessary procedures, provided financial support, and supplied new uniforms to those granted amnesty before they returned to their localities.
On the same day, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center announced the 2026 amnesty decision for 38 eligible inmates.

Colonel Chu Quang Thanh, Superintendent of the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, shared his hope that those granted amnesty would abide by the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, actively engage in production, and quickly stabilize their lives upon returning to their localities. For prisoners who do not yet meet the criteria for amnesty, he urged them to continue strictly adhering to regulations and actively reforming themselves so that they can soon benefit from the humane policies of the Party and the State.
Also on June 1st, Prison No. 6 (under the Department of Police for Prison Management, Compulsory Education Facilities, and Juvenile Detention Centers - Ministry of Public Security) held a ceremony to announce the 2026 amnesty decision for 228 eligible inmates.

The 2026 amnesty further affirms the lenient and humane policy of the Party and State towards those who have committed crimes but show remorse and are determined to correct their mistakes; thereby creating conditions for them to reintegrate into the community, rebuild their lives, and become useful citizens for society.
On the same day, Ngoc Ly Prison (Bac Ninh) also held a ceremony to announce the President's decision on amnesty for 2026. Accordingly, 227 inmates serving sentences at Ngoc Ly Prison are eligible for amnesty after a period of serious rehabilitation, active learning and labor, and good compliance with the law.

Among them were 47 women and 180 men from various provinces and cities across the country. The moment their names were called on the amnesty list, many inmates couldn't hide their emotions. Some quietly wiped away tears, while others looked towards their loved ones waiting outside the prison gates.
Speaking on behalf of those granted amnesty, Ms. Hoang Thu Phuong (from Lang Son province) tearfully shared that her years in re-education camp had helped her deeply understand her mistakes, appreciate the value of freedom, family affection, and the responsibilities of a citizen.
Receiving the pardon decision today is a precious opportunity for Ms. Phuong to rebuild her life. She will never forget this lesson and will strive to live a good life to be worthy of the leniency of the Party and the State, and the trust of her family.
Beyond simply offering the opportunity to return home, the program also demonstrates practical support for those granted amnesty. The organizers presented them with amnesty certificates, identity cards, and SIM cards provided by MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, helping them quickly reconnect with their families and facilitating their reintegration into the community.

Immediately after completing the prescribed procedures, Ngoc Ly Prison arranged transportation to take those granted amnesty to the designated meeting point for handover to their families to return to their localities. For those with difficult circumstances or whose families live far away and cannot come to pick them up, the unit proactively arranged transportation to Bac Ninh Bus Station so they could continue their journey back to reunite with their loved ones.
On the same day, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police also held a ceremony to announce the President's decision on the 2026 amnesty for 31 inmates currently serving their sentences at Detention Center No. 2 who meet the eligibility criteria.
