On April 10, the police in Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province, announced that they are investigating a case in which a female student was beaten, stripped naked, and filmed in a humiliating manner. Those involved have been summoned by the police for questioning.
According to a video circulating on social media, the incident occurred in the evening on the beach of Quang Phu commune (Quang Trach district). In the 2-minute and 35-second clip, a female student is repeatedly beaten by two other women, who grab her hair, drag her, pin her to the ground, kick and stomp on her head repeatedly, and slap her face repeatedly.
These two individuals also stripped the victim of her clothes, filmed the incident, and posted the video on social media.
In the video, the female student is repeatedly beaten, begging for mercy, but is continuously slapped in the face and kicked in the body and head.
At the time of the incident, a group of men stood around watching, some even cheering on the beating and humiliation of the victim.
After the clip went viral on social media, the Quang Trach District Police quickly launched an investigation.
Initial investigations have identified one of the two assailants who attacked the female student as a student. One of them is from Quang Phu commune, and the other is from Quang Hop commune (both in Quang Trach district).
The female student who was beaten and humiliated is a 9th-grade student residing in Quang Chau commune, in the same district. The incident occurred in the coastal area of Quang Phu commune.
The group of boys watching and cheering were identified as including some students from Quang Phu and Canh Duong communes, some of whom had dropped out of school.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Minh, head of the Quang Trach District Police, said that the district police are continuing to verify and clarify the identities of the individuals involved and will proceed to compile a case file and handle the matter strictly.
"Any act of distributing , sharing, or uploading these videos will be dealt with severely according to the law," said Lieutenant Colonel Minh.
