On the morning of August 10 (July 7, Giap Thin year), the Board of Directors of Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ba Sao town, Kim Bang district) solemnly held the Vu Lan Dharma Assembly to show filial piety "Filial piety" Buddhist calendar 2568 - Gregorian calendar 2024.
Attending the Dharma Assembly were comrade Truong Quoc Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Abbot of Tam Chuc Pagoda; leaders of a number of Party Building Committees of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of a number of functional departments and branches; Priest of Phu Ly Parish, Ha Nam Province; Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ha Nam Province, Ninh Binh Province, along with a large number of monks, nuns, Buddhists and 500 students from universities across the country.
Speaking at the opening of the Dharma Assembly, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said: More than 2,500 years ago, La Boc, out of a great vow to save his mother, decided to leave home to study and practice, and attained the name of Venerable Maudgalyayana. Thanks to the Buddha's kind teachings, on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the day when the Buddhas rejoiced and the monks finished their summer retreat in purity and full of merit, he prepared a ceremony to worship the Buddha and the Sangha of the 10 directions. Thanks to that great merit, his mother was able to escape the hell of Avici, and at the same time, he was able to dedicate it to many sentient beings who relied on that fate to escape the dark prison. Since then, the 7th lunar month - Vu Lan season has become a great festival for Buddhists across the five continents.
Vu Lan festival is an opportunity for us to fulfill our good vows of filial piety and gratitude in a complete way. Therefore, Vu Lan festival is not only a Buddhist festival, but also a traditional festival of the Vietnamese people, with origins that have been passed down for thousands of generations.
After the opening ceremony, one of the special rituals of the Vu Lan Festival, the Rose Pinning Ceremony, took place. The rose was chosen as a symbol of love, nobility and fragrance. Remembering one's parents and pinning a noble flower on the chest is the most beautiful sentiment, the word "Filial piety" that children send to their parents. Those who still have parents pin a red rose on their chest. Those who have lost their father or mother will pin a light pink rose on their chest. Those who have lost both their father and mother will pin a white rose. In addition to red, pink and white flowers, there are also yellow roses pinned on the chest of monks. Yellow roses represent the salvation of all living beings, borrowing the body of the four elements given by parents to liberate.
The Vu Lan festival of filial piety at Tam Chuc pagoda is also filled with emotions with the art program "Vu Lan - Filial Piety" and other Vu Lan scenes.
