At the ceremony, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also organized a scientific workshop on 'Application of modern technology in early warning of hydrometeorological disasters to reduce disaster risks and respond to climate change'.
According to the global carbon budget report, it is estimated that countries will emit a total of 36.8 billion tons of CO 2 from fossil fuels, and if emissions from land use are included, the total global CO 2 will reach 40.9 billion tons. Meanwhile, the world 's vegetation and oceans can only absorb about 50% of total CO 2 emissions.
Overview of the launching ceremony
Vietnam is a country heavily affected by climate change, proactively responding to climate change is a particularly important issue. Our country has become one of three countries that have achieved and exceeded the committed target of reducing carbon footprint by 2.5% each year. In fact, the speed of Vietnam's footprint reduction is faster, reaching 6.5% each year, this is a positive signal in implementing activities to respond to climate change and measures to reduce carbon footprint.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment calls on all agencies, organizations and people to disseminate and propagate contents on electricity saving and environmental protection, join hands in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to a balanced threshold, minimize our negative impacts in the process of using ecological services, and help Vietnam achieve the national target program by 2030.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Le Cong Thanh, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, said that Vietnam has been continuing to improve its policies on climate change response, actively cooperate internationally in climate change response and adaptation, and has achieved many important results.
