Heavy rain continues in the North, floods on many rivers rise on October 1

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on October 1, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, scattered thunderstorms, and locally very heavy rain.

Heavy rain continues in the North

Rainfall recorded in some places exceeded 80 mm, such as Ho Thau 1 station (Tuyen Quang), Chieng Noi station (Son La), Giao An station (Thanh Hoa), Tam Hop 2 station ( Nghe An ). It is forecasted that from the evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to appear, with heavy rain in some places.

The areas from Nghe An to Thua Thien- Hue and the South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers in the evening, with some places experiencing heavy rain. The Meteorological Agency warns that thunderstorms pose a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Localized heavy rains can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas and localized flooding in low-lying areas. People need to be especially vigilant and proactive in taking preventive measures to minimize risks.

According to forecasts, from October 6 to 8, the North and North Central regions are likely to experience widespread heavy rain. The Quang Tri to Thua Thien-Hue region and the South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon from October 4 to 8. The Central Highlands and the South will continue to experience showers, with heavy rain in some places.

Regarding flood developments, on October 1, floods in the downstream of Ca River (Nam Dan) were below alert level 3; floods in Ma River and Luc Nam River were below alert level 2; floods in Thao River continued to decrease below alert level 3. Meanwhile, floods in Lo River, Cau River, Thuong River and Thai Binh River remained high. In the next 12-24 hours, floods in the downstream of Ca River will be below alert level 2, Lo River will reach alert level 3; Cau River, Thuong River and Thai Binh River will continue to exceed alert level 3.

From October 1 to October 2, floods on Lo River (Tuyen Quang), Cau River, Thuong River (Bac Ninh), Thai Binh River (Hai Phong) continued to rise; the downstream of La River (Ha Tinh) fluctuated at approximately alert level 2. Flooding has been occurring in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas in the North, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh and Dong Nai.
