Vietnam National Payment Corporation (NAPAS) and Mastercard officially announced the issuance of co-branded cards through 6 leading commercial banks in Vietnam. The banks include Agribank , BIDV, TPBank, Nam A Bank, PVcomBank and Vikki.

The implementation of the NAPAS – Mastercard co-branded card in Vietnam is an important step, in line with the global trend, towards a “one-touch – global connection” payment experience for consumers.

The launch of the co-branded card is the result of a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2024 between NAPAS, Mastercard and nine banks in Vietnam, aiming to bring advanced payment solutions to domestic consumers.

This solution is designed to meet the increasing demand of consumers for cross-border transactions in many areas such as shopping, travel and international trade. Cardholders can easily pay at more than 650,000 payment acceptance points and withdraw money at more than 20,000 ATMs nationwide through NAPAS's network, while expanding the scope of use to more than 150 million payment acceptance points and 1 million ATMs worldwide through Mastercard's global payment network.

Notably, the NAPAS - Mastercard co-branded card line integrates two chip technologies at the same time: VCCS (domestic chip) developed by NAPAS and M/Chip (international chip standard) by Mastercard. This integration ensures high compatibility and transaction security. This advanced integrated technology supports both contact and contactless payments, meeting leading international security standards, including multi-layer authentication through Cardholder Verification Method (CVM). Issuing banks can flexibly provide cards with different levels such as Classic or Platinum for VCCS and Standard for M/Chip, fully meeting transaction channels from ATM, POS to e-commerce.

Integrating domestic and international chip standards into a unified solution not only simplifies cross-border transactions but also improves operational efficiency and customer retention for issuing banks.

The launch of the co-branded card marks an important step forward for the Vietnamese banking industry, demonstrating the spirit of innovation, international cooperation and long-term vision of Mastercard and NAPAS. This milestone is a testament to the strong commitment of Mastercard and NAPAS to promote cashless payments and digital transformation in the country's financial sector.
