After examining under a microscope, the doctor discovered hundreds of adult pubic lice, many live larvae with dense cocoons under the eyelashes. The left eyelid was severely inflamed, with ulcers on the eyelid mucosa and eyelashes falling out.
The doctor examined the pubic lice under a microscope and disinfected both eyes to remove the eggs and parasites. The patient was also prescribed medication to use at home.
Pubic lice, also known as eyelash lice, groin lice, etc., are blood-sucking insects that live and reproduce mainly in moist, hidden places such as the groin, armpits, eyelids, etc. Pubic lice are smaller than other types of lice, and appear in many places, especially in families that often raise dogs, cats, buffaloes, and cows. When parasitizing the human body, they will suck the host's blood to live and develop.
Pubic lice cause itching, discomfort, greatly affecting the quality of life. To completely treat this disease, it is necessary to remove all adult lice, larvae and maintain personal hygiene, clean clothes and bedding to avoid recurrence.
Doctors also recommend that when people have long-term itchy eyes, they should go to ophthalmology facilities for examination, detection and timely treatment.
