According to Onmanorama, local people were harvesting chili peppers when they discovered the decomposing body of an unidentified man chained to a rubber tree in an abandoned plantation in Mukkadavu, India.
"The body was found about 600 meters from Mukkadavu bridge on the afternoon of September 23," the source said.

A torn bag, scissors, a saw and bottles were also found at the scene. The area had not recently allowed rubber tapping and was overgrown with weeds.
Police said the victim's face and other body parts were burned and his body was decomposed beyond recognition. A necklace was found around his neck.
Punalur Fire Brigade cut the chains that bound the body and shifted it to the Punalur Taluk Hospital mortuary. The postmortem was conducted at Parippally Medical College Hospital on September 24.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the case.
