Security company Zimperium has just warned about ClayRat spyware, which is spreading rapidly on Android. ClayRat is often disguised as familiar applications such as TikTok, YouTube or Google Photos to trick users.
When users install APK files from sources other than Google Play, this malware will be secretly installed and activated. Once it has SMS access or is set as the default messaging app, ClayRat can read messages, record calls, take photos with the front camera, and send messages without permission.
All collected data such as device information, contacts, photos and message logs will be sent to the attacker's control server. In the past three months alone, more than 600 ClayRat variants have been detected, demonstrating an alarming level of sophistication and speed of spread. Users are advised to only download applications from Google Play, enable Play Protect and regularly update the operating system to avoid risks.
In particular, be careful with sensitive permissions such as SMS, camera or call access because just one careless moment can compromise all personal data. Dear readers, please watch more videos : Online kidnapping scam scenario "psychologically manipulates" many victims | VTV24
