According to Times Of Israel, speaking to reporters on Air Force One while en route to Israel on October 12, President Trump declared the war in Gaza to be over, and expressed confidence that the ceasefire and hostage release agreement reached by Israel and Hamas a few days ago would be maintained.
"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has never said the war is over. In your view, is the conflict between Israel and Hamas over?", a reporter asked Mr. Trump on the plane.
"The war is over. I think the ceasefire will hold," Mr. Trump emphasized.

The White House boss added that he had received assurances from both Israel and Hamas, as well as other key players in the region, about the first phase of the deal. However, the next phase has not yet been finalized.
"We got a lot of verbal assurances and I think they didn't want to disappoint me," Mr. Trump continued.
Mr. Trump's visit to Israel on October 13 is expected to last only about 4 hours, including meetings with the hostages' families and Prime Minister Netanyahu, and a speech in the Israeli Parliament .
"The United States will continue to work until peace is fully maintained throughout the region," President Trump continued.
After his visit to Israel, President Trump will travel to Egypt, where he and President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi will co-host a summit with more than 20 world leaders to support Mr. Trump’s plan to end the conflict in Gaza and promote Middle East peace.
However, neither Israel nor Hamas had representatives attending the summit.
