According to the Times of Israel, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Israel on October 12, President Trump declared that the war in Gaza was over, and expressed confidence that the ceasefire and hostage release agreement reached by Israel and Hamas a few days earlier would be maintained.
"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has never said the war is over. In his view, has the conflict between Israel and Hamas ended?" a reporter asked Trump on the plane.
"The war is over. I think the ceasefire will be maintained," Trump emphasized.

The White House chief added that he had received assurances from both Israel and Hamas, as well as other key parties in the region, regarding the first phase of the agreement. However, the next phase is not yet complete.
"We received many verbal assurances, and I think they didn't want to let me down," Trump continued.
Trump's visit to Israel on October 13th is expected to last only about four hours, including meetings with the hostages' families and Prime Minister Netanyahu, as well as a speech at the Israeli Knesset .
"The United States will continue to work until peace is fully maintained throughout the region," President Trump added.
Following his visit to Israel, President Trump will travel to Egypt, where he and President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi will co-chair a summit with more than 20 world leaders to support Trump's plan to end the conflict in Gaza and promote Middle East peace.
However, neither Israel nor Hamas sent representatives to this summit.
