Regarding future tasks, the General Secretary stated that 2025 is of special importance, therefore, more than ever, we need to maximize the spirit of solidarity, working together, and "daring to speak, daring to think, and daring to act."
To commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and in preparation for the Lunar New Year 2025, this morning, January 20, at the Party Central Headquarters, the Politburo and the Secretariat organized a meeting with leading officials, former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, and members of the Party Central Committee from various terms to review the glorious 95-year history of the Party; and to express gratitude and honor Party members who have made significant contributions to the Party and the State.
General Secretary To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the conference. Also present were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; President Luong Cuong, former President Truong Tan Sang; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man ; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung, and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee, and Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, along with other Politburo members, Central Committee members of the 13th Party Congress, and leaders of central ministries and agencies.
Speaking at the conference, General Secretary To Lam reviewed the outstanding achievements in most areas of the country in 2024, emphasizing that the achievements were largely due to the significant contributions of former leaders, veteran revolutionaries, and many intellectuals and prominent figures both domestically and abroad.
Regarding future tasks, the General Secretary stated that 2025 is of special importance, therefore, more than ever, we need to maximize the spirit of unity, cooperation, and solidarity, "daring to speak, daring to think, and daring to act." According to the General Secretary, in order to continue shouldering the historical responsibility of leading the country steadily into a new era, in the coming period, it is necessary to continue to strongly innovate the leadership methods and enhance the leadership capacity and governing capacity of the Party.
"We need to unify our understanding and strictly implement the Party's leadership and governance methods, absolutely preventing any excuses, substitutions, or laxity in the Party's leadership. The Party leads through the political system, of which the Party is the core; leads through ideology, guidelines, policies, and the pioneering and exemplary conduct, as well as regular self-criticism and criticism by cadres and Party members; through institutionalizing the Party's guidelines and policies into state laws; through mobilizing and persuading the people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, nominating outstanding representatives to the state apparatus, and through inspection and supervision work."
It is necessary to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in the activities of the Party, and for the Party to inspect and supervise in order to improve the performance of work and the effective implementation of resolutions; to ensure that the Party and State apparatus operate effectively and efficiently, in accordance with the Party's guidelines and policies, with the right people in the right jobs; to promptly identify new factors, good and creative approaches; to correct and adjust deviations or prevent wrongful acts and violations of Party regulations and State laws.
"It is necessary to continue to seriously implement the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee on strengthening Party building and rectification and the political system; resolutely prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and Party members who have degenerated in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, and who show signs of 'self-evolution' and 'self-specialization,' in conjunction with studying and following the thoughts, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh," the General Secretary emphasized.
Referring to the central task of socio-economic development, the General Secretary stated that the entire political system needs to focus on effectively and substantively implementing the restructuring of the economy, linked to the innovation of the growth model, built on the foundation of science, technology, digital transformation, and especially with people at the center, focusing on developing high-quality human resources. Along with that, attention should be paid to developing culture and society and building Vietnamese people with sufficient qualities and capabilities to meet the requirements of sustainable development, while ensuring social security, building a healthy living environment, mitigating natural disasters, and adapting to climate change.
Reiterating that 2025 is of paramount importance and crucial for the successful implementation of the Party's 13th National Congress Resolution, the General Secretary stated that the entire political system will implement comprehensive solutions with the highest determination, greatest effort, decisive action, and a focus on key areas, with the most effective solutions, concentrating all resources and measures to strive to achieve and surpass the set goals, creating a foundation for a breakthrough in the next phase.
General Secretary To Lam proposed: "We should hold Party congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party, focusing on two main areas: preparing documents for the Congress and preparing personnel. In particular, personnel work is a crucial task, the 'key' of 'keys,' with decisive significance for the successful implementation of the Party's policies and guidelines to lead the country into a new era. We should implement the Central Committee's policy on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and streamlining and perfecting the organizational structure of the political system to be lean, effective, and efficient. Currently, the reform and streamlining of the political system's organizational structure to be lean, strong, efficient, and effective is being implemented with great effort and determination. This is an urgent requirement and a particularly important task, eagerly awaited, welcomed, and widely supported by cadres, Party members, and the people." "Strong support throughout society."
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam awarded the Gold Star Order to former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and the Ho Chi Minh Order to former National Assembly Chairmen: Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Standing Committee members of the Party Central Committee: Le Hong Anh, Tran Quoc Vuong; former Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong; former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Minister of National Defense Ngo Xuan Lich, and posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order to former President Tran Dai Quang.
President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented the 80, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, and 40-year Party membership badges to 15 former members of the Politburo and former members of the Central Committee of the Party.
