Currently, Vinh Phuc has about 150 thousand workers working in industrial parks and clusters. The workforce is the core force that directly contributes to the economic development of the province. Therefore, the province pays special attention to and cares for the lives of workers to create the best conditions for workers to work with peace of mind, promote their capacity, and contribute to the development of the province.
To support housing for workers, from 2022 to present, the provincial Trade Union at all levels has allocated the Fund "For Workers and Poor Laborers" to support the construction of "Trade Union Shelters" for many union members in difficult circumstances. In 2024, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation supported housing construction costs for 7 union members; organized a working delegation to visit and support housing construction costs for 5 union members in difficult circumstances in Dien Bien province with a total amount of 200 million VND.
Many projects to build trade union facilities for workers have been and are being implemented in industrial parks in the province. The Workers' Cultural House project at Khai Quang Industrial Park (Vinh Yen) was inaugurated and put into use many years ago, meeting the needs of entertainment, sports, cultural and artistic activities of thousands of workers. The project has a total area of 2,500m2, including items such as a football field, green campus, cultural house, badminton court, table tennis court, etc.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, a worker at Khai Quang Industrial Park, said: “The workers’ cultural house plays an important role in improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers. I and other workers often come here to exercise, play sports, and participate in cultural programs, competitions, and performances organized by the Trade Union.”
The Cultural House for Workers and Laborers of Lap Thach District has an area of 5,000 m2 with a total investment of 25 billion VND, inaugurated and put into use from 2023. The project includes a cultural house, a football field, a volleyball court and other auxiliary items, serving workers and people after stressful working hours, contributing to improving the health and cultural and spiritual life of workers.
Currently, the project to build a Cultural House for Workers and Laborers in Huong Canh Town (Binh Xuyen) is under construction. The project includes a 2-storey multi-purpose house, a mini soccer field, a swimming pool, etc. with a total investment of 33.8 billion VND. The contractor is completing the 2-storey multi-purpose house, gate, and fence; the leveling work has reached 70% of the volume. The completed volume is about 45% of the contract value. The project is built and put into use to meet the needs of entertainment, recreation, and improve the cultural and spiritual life of workers.
In addition to the Workers and Laborers Cultural House of Phuc Yen City, Binh Xuyen District, which is under construction, the Workers Cultural House of Vinh Tuong District, Tam Duong District and the Project to expand the Workers Cultural House of Khai Quang Industrial Park have received written approval for implementation. Currently, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vinh Phuc Province are coordinating to build a trade union facility area at Ba Thien Industrial Park (Binh Xuyen) to serve the essential needs of workers. According to the plan, the project will build facilities including a sports and physical training center, workers' housing, parking lots, playgrounds, trees and a centralized sports field.
The Workers' Housing Project in the Vinh Phuc Trade Union Institution Planning Area with an area of over 24,870m2 was built with capital from enterprises called for investment by the Provincial People's Committee but has not yet been implemented due to the lack of investment policy approval.
The project of the outdoor cultural and sports area under the planning of Vinh Phuc trade union institutions with an area of nearly 9,570 m2 invested by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with trade union financial resources has not yet had its feasibility study report approved because the project of the workers' housing area under the planning of trade union institutions has not been approved by the Provincial People's Committee to select an investor and the People's Committee of Binh Xuyen district has not yet completed the site clearance work.
The establishment of trade union institutions contributes to taking care of the material and spiritual life of workers, and at the same time demonstrates the close relationship between workers and trade unions. In order for trade union institutions to be put into use soon, the province and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor continue to implement solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the construction of trade union institutions to serve the lives of workers.
