The war has been over for many years, but its consequences are still present. To make the country independent and free, so much sweat, blood and tears were shed on the homeland. So many talented people fell, so many returned with disabilities, forever. Millions of martyrs' relatives, grandparents, parents, husbands, wives, and children will never be able to see their loved ones again.
Since liberation, Dong Thap province has recognized over 62,300 policy beneficiaries, including 18,315 martyrs, 2,227 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 57 Armed Forces Heroes, 6,800 wounded and sick soldiers... Of which, more than 8,950 beneficiaries are receiving monthly allowances. From 2017 to 2023, the search and collection of 518 martyrs' remains have been organized. |
Forever imprinted in the minds of every generation of Dong Thap people, July 27 is the day to demonstrate the tradition of “filial piety and charity”, the day the whole nation commemorates the heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, for the independence and freedom of the nation. The formulation and full implementation of social policies for wounded soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution continue to contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, truly becoming a material and spiritual motivation to help them rise up, overcome difficulties and challenges, and take control of their lives. The Party Committee and the authorities at all levels in the province always focus on educating the sense of responsibility, civic duty and deep gratitude of all classes of people, of all generations towards martyrs, families of martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and people with meritorious services to the revolution, realizing that their sacrifices for the independence and freedom of the nation, for the happiness of the people are priceless, not only for yesterday, today but for future generations.
The implementation of policies for people with meritorious services has great political significance, contributing to fostering the nation's moral tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", arousing the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and gratitude of the younger generation towards the previous generation with gratitude, affection and responsibility, whether in war or in construction and development, while at the same time creating and strengthening belief in a good social regime. To show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution, our province has done its best to ensure that all policy beneficiaries are well cared for both materially and spiritually. Promoting "Repaying gratitude" activities to take good care of war invalids, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution has become a widespread movement in the political system and all classes of people, attracting resources in society and the business community to participate with the motto "The State and the People together take care of people with meritorious services".
The homeland has been peaceful and unified, but the war has not yet receded. Every day and every hour, hostile and reactionary forces still have many plots to sabotage and divide the country. Dangerous criminals are still waiting for opportunities. Diseases, natural disasters and floods are still rampant. This is an opportunity for us to think about our responsibilities to our homeland. Today, each person should live a life worthy of the passing of our heroes. Let us admonish ourselves by doing useful things for our country. Let us each know how to overcome ourselves and do the most practical work for ourselves and for our homeland and country to contribute to building and developing our homeland to become more and more beautiful, protecting and preserving the peace that our ancestors always wished for before they sacrificed their lives.

76 autumns have passed, 76 seasons of gratitude. July 27th has become a day that those who are still alive will never forget, cannot forget. We respectfully offer you wreaths and incense sticks with our respect for those who have fallen for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. We express our deep gratitude to the wounded and sick soldiers, the heroic Vietnamese Mothers and those who have contributed to the revolution.
Thank you for these days, each of us has the opportunity to reflect on ourselves, to awaken pride in our ancestors' careers, to use that as motivation to strive, practice, and contribute to the development of our homeland Dong Thap.
