Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision 1277/QD-TTg approving the national mineral reserve area.

Approval of national mineral reserve areas

Publicly disclose the approved national mineral reserve areas.

Accordingly, 93 national mineral reserve areas were approved for 10 specific types of minerals as follows:

1. Coal energy: 2 areas.

2. Apatite ore: 2 areas.

3. Lead-zinc ore: 1 area.

4. Chromite ore deposits: 3 areas.

5. Titanium ore: 14 areas.

6. Bauxite ore deposits: 23 areas.

7. Iron ore-laterite deposits: 14 areas.

8. White marble: 17 areas.

9. White sand: 15 areas.

10. Rare earth ores: 2 areas.

During the reserve period of the aforementioned national mineral reserve areas, the management and protection of unexploited minerals; and the implementation of investment projects in national mineral reserve areas must comply with the provisions of Government Decree No. 51/2021/ND-CP dated April 1, 2021, on the management of minerals in national mineral reserve areas, the provisions of the law on minerals, and the following regulations:

Mineral exploration licenses and mineral exploitation licenses issued by competent authorities before November 1, 2023, that do not pertain to the aforementioned reserve minerals, shall continue to be implemented according to the content of the issued licenses and the provisions of the law on minerals.

Areas containing minerals not classified as national mineral reserves, but which have been included in relevant mineral planning and have not yet been licensed for exploration or exploitation, or have not been included in relevant mineral planning, may be planned and licensed for exploration and exploitation in accordance with the law on minerals, but without affecting minerals already designated as national mineral reserves.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with the People's Committees of relevant provinces and centrally-administered cities to publicly disclose the approved national mineral reserve areas.

In addition, the dossiers delineating national mineral reserve areas shall be handed over to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-governed cities where the national mineral reserve areas are located for management and protection in accordance with regulations.
