According to Box Office Vietnam statistics, Phi Phong is the second Vietnamese film in 2026 to achieve this feat, after Tho Oi by director Tran Thanh.
With early screenings starting on April 16th, director Do Quoc Trung's brainchild quickly garnered attention. Initially scheduled for release on April 30th, the film was proactively moved forward to capitalize on market gaps. Thanks to this smart release strategy, the film successfully earned money and faced no box office setbacks.
The horror film almost completely dominated the theater market (around 85%) during its initial release. On average, the film had over 5,000 screenings per day – a number more than enough to propel Phi Phong's box office revenue to new heights.

After more than a month since its release, Phi Phong 's box office figures have dropped sharply. On May 23rd alone, the film earned approximately 300 million VND, ranking 6th overall. At its current rate of earning, 200 billion VND will almost certainly be Phi Phong's final revenue.
Phi Phong is a horror-supernatural film directed by Do Quoc Trung, exploring folk legends about demons capable of disguising themselves as humans and draining life force. The film stars Kieu Minh Tuan, Diep Bao Ngoc, Nina Nutthacha, Doan Minh Anh, and Hanh Thuy.
The film was well-received by audiences due to its relatively good quality compared to the average Vietnamese horror film. The production design, art direction, cinematography, and acting were all considered quite convincing. While the script still has some flaws and certain storylines aren't fully explored, the story remains engaging and delivers surprising plot twists.
