GD&TĐ - The film "Blood Moon Feast 8," starring singer and actress Miu Lê, is facing the prospect of being almost eliminated from the box office market.

According to updated data from Box Office Vietnam at 4 PM on May 25th, the film's total revenue currently stands at approximately 33 billion VND. However, the daily revenue has dropped to only 628,000 VND, equivalent to the sales of just 9 tickets nationwide with only 4 screenings remaining.

The film is no longer showing in major cinema chains such as CGV, Lotte Cinema, Galaxy, or Beta. The few remaining screenings are mainly at the BHD cinema chain in Ho Chi Minh City.

Given the current ticket sales rate, it's highly likely the film will officially leave theaters in the next few days.

This is considered a significant drop in the Vietnamese box office during the April 30th - May 1st holiday this year. Previously, upon its release, "Blood Moon Feast 8" had at one point topped the daily box office and was expected to become one of the most popular Vietnamese films of summer 2026 thanks to its famous cast and extensive promotional campaign.

However, the film quickly lost momentum due to fierce competition from many contemporaries such as "The Font," "The Five-Toed Pig," and especially the sensation "Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea," which was dominating the Vietnamese box office.

Besides the competitive factor, the scandal involving Miu Le is believed to have strongly impacted the film's appeal. After the singer became embroiled in a drug-related controversy in mid-May, the film crew's media activities almost came to a standstill, with much promotional content being hidden or having reduced visibility on social media.

Although the authorities did not issue a ban, the market reacted very quickly. Cinemas continuously cut screenings due to the sharp drop in audience numbers. In just over two weeks, the film went from having hundreds of screenings per day to almost completely empty theaters.

Given the current production and distribution costs of Vietnamese films, a revenue of over 33 billion VND is considered unlikely to break even for the project. Many believe this is one of the fastest-growing revenue drops in Vietnamese cinema in recent times.
