After days of exciting competition in Cambodia, the 32nd SEA Games officially ended with many impressive and unforgettable moments. Leading the overall medal tally with 355 medals (136 gold, 105 silver, 114 bronze), the Vietnamese sports delegation had a successful SEA Games, exceeding the set target. Every time the red flag with yellow star is raised, millions of Vietnamese people feel very proud. Notably, among the precious gold medals of the Vietnamese delegation, there are many marks of female athletes.
First of all, we have to talk about Nguyen Thi Oanh - the little girl who won 4 individual gold medals. Participating in the 32nd SEA Games with 4 running events (1,500m, 3,000m obstacle course, 5,000m, 10,000m), the 1m50 "superwoman" won first place in all 4 events, making many opponents terrified. Fans are still moved by her determination to win 2 gold medals within 30 minutes - something that is hard to imagine.
Notably, out of the total 12 gold medals of Vietnamese athletics, there were 10 gold medals in the women's events. In addition to "Oanh In", Nguyen Thi Huyen (400m hurdles), Nguyen Linh Na (7-event combination), Huynh Thi My Tien (100m hurdles), Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (800m women), Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc (20km walk)... all competed extremely well.
Not only in the queen sport but also in the king sport, the female strikers also did better than their male counterparts. While U22 Vietnam only won the bronze medal, Huynh Nhu and her teammates sang the national anthem on the podium for the 4th consecutive time. This is also the 8th SEA Games gold medal of the Vietnamese women's football team, helping to firmly consolidate the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia and create a perfect springboard for the upcoming World Cup finals.
In basketball, Vietnam won its first gold medal in history, coming from the women's 3x3 event. Contributing greatly to this achievement were the twin sisters Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy. In the cycling event, the women's 100.4km road race started in a row, veteran athlete Nguyen Thi That showed her experience and outstanding class when she stepped onto the top podium for the 5th consecutive time - an unprecedented record.
As for Duong Thuy Vi (Wushu, performance), the 32nd SEA Games gold medal on her 30th birthday is a wonderful gift for her persistent efforts. It has been 10 years since Thuy Vi first won a SEA Games gold medal and this is the 7th gold medal for this beauty at the largest sports arena in the region. In addition, Vietnamese female martial artists in other disciplines such as Kun Khmer, Kun Bokator, Judo, Kick Boxing... brought home many gold medals.
The 32nd SEA Games has ended, but surely the beautiful emotions and memories will remain forever in the hearts of many people. Each medal of the athletes is meaningful and worthy of respect. Their national spirit and strong will are shining examples for the younger generation to follow.
Moreover, the image of Vietnamese women with the will to overcome difficulties to create extraordinary strength always leaves admiration in the hearts of international friends. Even some athletes, despite being old, married and having children, still maintain high performance, with no intention of retiring.
