On April 13th, producer Nguyen Cao Tung, General Director of 1-All Stars, announced that after more than 30 years since the impact of classic works such as "The Daughter of Red Earth" and "Like a Legend," the image of the female hero Vo Thi Sau officially returns to the big screen through the film project "Red Earth."
The film, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the death of Vo Thi Sau (1952-2027), is scheduled to begin filming in the third quarter of 2026 and be released in 2027, with the hope of spreading historical values and patriotic spirit to the younger generation. Accordingly, "Red Land" will be a completely new, more direct and edgy version of the journey of a historical icon.

Unlike previous versions, "Red Earth" adopts a more realistic and direct approach. Instead of simply portraying an epic hero, the film focuses on the journey of a 13-year-old girl, full of emotion, from her innocent and carefree life to being swept into the brutal vortex of war.
The film's setting spans from the Long My war zone to the Ba Ria base area, recreating a suffocating atmosphere where war is not just about battles but also about the physical and mental erosion of human beings.
"Red Earth" draws viewers straight into a space where the stifling heat and cruelty are present in every breath. There, "tiger cages," "cow sheds," lime powder, and layers of rusty iron are no longer historical concepts, but very real impacts on the body. But it is precisely in that extreme place that the revolutionary will becomes clearest and most fierce.
The approach of exploring Con Dao Island in a way that focuses on experiential, sensory, and physical experiences, rather than just historical context, is expected to generate much debate and attention. Because of this, "Red Land" opens up a continuation: A flower falls, a legend lives on.
The "Red Soil" project is led by director Le Van Kiet, the man behind works such as "Hai Phuong," "The Princess," and "Gentle." This time, he approaches the story of Vo Thi Sau with a realistic and intense cinematic language, while still maintaining the depth of her personal emotions.
The film was produced by Viettel Media, 1-All Stars, and ProductionQ. It was distributed by Galaxy Studio.
Along with announcing the project, the film crew also officially launched a large-scale casting call, and opened direct registration in localities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau .
The role of Võ Thị Sáu was sought from actors aged 13-19, requiring them to portray the transformation from innocent to resilient. Alongside her were supporting characters such as Hải, Lan, Chi, and Ông Hợi and Bà Đậu – important pieces that created a richly emotional portrayal of war.
