The most impressive horror film in theaters today is “Bring Her Back”, originally titled “Bring Her Back”, produced by the famous Oscar-winning film studio A24, directed by Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou.
The film revolves around the story of two siblings Andy and Piper who have to move into a strange guardian's house after the death of their father. Andy is smart and sensitive, but is stuck in the mistakes of the past, from the violence of his father. Meanwhile, Piper is blind, naive, always longing for a warm family with the love of everyone, but is also quite quick-witted and has the ability to make quick judgments.

The house with seemingly peaceful scenery in the middle of the forest, with a small kitchen, a lovely fluffy cat and lively music, but it seems that every corner of the house hides dark secrets. Andy's sensitivity makes him quickly realize that something is wrong in this house...
“Bring her back” does not exploit the creepy, bloody elements like the usual horror films, but goes deep into the human psyche. A mother, despite being a counselor for children for 20 years, cannot maintain her mental balance when her little daughter passes away. A father who likes to use violence to talk to his child, despite the fact that it is the only family presence left by his deceased wife. The malicious jokes of seemingly neat and clean teenagers towards the disabled… These are the dark corners hidden deep in the human soul, if given the opportunity, they will erupt and smolder forever.
Also hitting theaters this summer is “Until Dawn”, a film based on Sony’s best-selling horror game released in 2015. After 10 years of waiting, the film finally hits the big screen with the same name “Until Dawn” (Vietnamese title: “Until Dawn: Horrifying Secret”) directed by talented director David F. Sandberg.

David F. Sandberg is a Swedish film director, screenwriter, editor and producer. He grew up with a passion for film watching his father's VHS-C tapes.
When he reached adulthood, David saved up money to buy his own camera and started making short horror films. His films “Lights Out” and “Annabelle: Creation - the sequel to Annabelle” were both huge box office successes, even winning awards at international film festivals.
David F. Sandberg has become a household name in the horror genre. His strengths include creating a dark, creepy, and breathless atmosphere, creative and unexpected scares, and the ability to create haunting scenes.
“Until Dawn” revolves around a group of friends including Clover (Ella Rubin), Max (Michael Cimino), Nina (Odessa A'zion), Abe (Belmont Cameli) and Megan (Ji-young Yoo). They go to a mysterious valley to search for Clover's younger sister Melanie (Maia Mitchell) who went missing a year ago.
While staying in a tourist apartment in the middle of the forest, each of them is murdered by a masked man. However, they suddenly wake up at the moment it all began. The hunt continues, and each death is more gruesome and different from the last. The group realizes that they have a limited number of deaths and the only way to escape is to survive until morning.
This summer cinema also marked the release of three Vietnamese horror films.
Actors in the movie "Under the Lake". |
One of them is “Under the Lake”, which has attracted the attention of the audience because of the participation of two talented people Thanh Duy and Kay Tran from the program “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai”.
The film is inspired by the mysterious legends surrounding the death lake with the mysterious story of doppelgangers. Kay Tran, Thanh Duy and Karen Nguyen play the role of three best friends who uncover the mysteries of the "clones" rising from the bottom of the death lake, threatening to take over the lives of the originals.
To properly portray the character's psychology, the actors had to constantly switch the character's psychology back and forth between the two versions throughout the filming process.
The film “Ut Lan: Oan linh tro cai” by director Tran Trong Dan exploits the element of talismans in folk legends, with the context of the West in the late 90s of the last century, where spiritual stories and legends about creepy customs are still widely circulated. After her father passed away, Lan (Phuong Thanh) went to work as a maid for Mr. Danh (Mac Van Khoa) - a widower with no children.
Lan has to face a series of strange phenomena and mysterious deaths that continuously occur. Together with Son (Quoc Truong) - a writer specializing in horror stories, Lan begins to uncover horrifying secrets, discovering the dark history of this village.

In addition, audiences can also watch a series of blockbuster horror movies this summer in theaters such as "The Conjuring: Last Rites" or "Sinners", "The Ghost Bride"..
