Disseminate copyright regulations

Delegates from copyright and related rights consulting organizations; representatives of some copyright and related rights owners (software companies, publishers, websites...); representatives of some universities in the region; media and press agencies... attended the conference.

Accordingly, the Law on Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Intellectual Property was passed by the 15th National Assembly at the 3rd session on June 16, 2022 and took effect on January 1, 2023, with amended and supplemented provisions in Chapter V on Certificate of registration of copyright and related rights.

To implement the Law on Amendments and Supplements to a Number of Articles of the Law on Intellectual Property, on April 26, 2023, the Government issued Decree No. 17-2023/ND-CP detailing a number of articles and measures to implement the Law on Intellectual Property on copyright and related rights; on June 2, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued (Circular No. 08/2023/TT-BVHTTDL) stipulating forms in copyright and related rights registration activities.

Deputy Director of the Copyright Office Pham Thi Kim Oanh said that in recent years, the field of copyright and related rights has been receiving much attention from society, especially at a time when Vietnam is implementing its commitments on intellectual property in free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam has been negotiating or has signed and ratified. Therefore, the registration of copyright and related rights is increasingly receiving attention and support from society.

At the Conference, the authorities in Ho Chi Minh City introduced an overview of the legal regulations on copyright and related rights; the experts of the copyright and related rights registration office introduced the procedures for registering copyright and related rights; introduced the forms in the activities of registering copyright and related rights and the work of registering copyright and related rights. Artists, composers, authors, musicians in the fields of: theater, drama, music, dance, folk art... were encouraged to register copyright and were advised to protect the intellectual property of themselves and their families.
