Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Freeland, who is known to not own a car, was fined $200 for speeding in her home state of Alberta.
Katherine Cuplinskas, a spokeswoman for Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, confirmed on August 22 that Freeland was driving at 132 km/h in the towns of Grande Prairie and Peace River in her home province of Alberta. The Canadian deputy prime minister was fined for speeding and has paid the full $200 fine.
Spokeswoman Cuplinskas did not specify when the incident occurred. The maximum speed limit on Alberta highways is 110 km/h.

Freeland also had four demerit points taken off his driver's licence. In Alberta, drivers who accumulate eight demerit points in two years are suspended from driving for one month.
Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Freeland, 55, is known for her love of cycling and frequently posts pictures of herself with it. Last month, Freeland said her father was shocked to learn that she did not own a car.
"I walk, I take the subway. My kids walk, they bike, they take the subway. It's really good for my family's health," Freeland said.
