(NLĐO) - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and a government delegation inspected the progress of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressways.
On the afternoon of March 13, while inspecting the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc requested contractors to increase equipment and manpower to work day and night, ensuring the progress of opening each section to traffic according to the plan.
Representatives from the Dong Nai Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works reported on the progress of component 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway project.
Local authorities must provide maximum support to contractors in terms of land, materials, and construction guarantees. Besides resolving land issues, attention should also be paid to resettlement to ensure people's consent and stable living conditions.
At the intersection of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway and National Highway 51, a representative of the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Company (VEC) stated that the expressway has a total length of approximately 58 km, passing through Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai provinces. Currently, the total construction volume has reached nearly 90%. The remaining contract packages have reached nearly 70% completion and are expected to be finished in the second quarter of 2025.
In addition to the two sections totaling 10.2 km that were put into operation before the Lunar New Year, two more sections, totaling over 20 km, will be opened to traffic on April 30th.
Meanwhile, according to Project Management Board 85 ( Ministry of Construction ), the interchange between the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and the connecting route to Long Thanh airport (component project 2, over 18 km long) has achieved over 30% completion for component project 2. Almost all of the land has been handed over, with approximately 130 households and technical infrastructure yet to be relocated.
According to the Project Management Board , the biggest difficulty currently is the shortage of millions of cubic meters of fill soil. If the soil supply is not resolved in March, the road embankment construction before the rainy season will be affected, potentially leading to delays. The Project Management Board requests that Dong Nai province provide materials soon to expedite construction.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc requested the construction units to speed up the progress.
According to Mr. Ngo The An, Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works, for component project 1 through Bien Hoa, in recent days, the local authorities have formed teams to mobilize resources and implemented many synchronized solutions, resulting in more land being handed over. The investor has requested the contractor to mobilize machinery and equipment to start construction immediately at the newly handed-over sites.
To date, land clearance for the Long Thanh section has been completed, while the Bien Hoa section has only reached 82%. Currently, there are still about 400 plots of land that have not been handed over, and construction is about 65% complete. The Bien Hoa City government has established several working groups to encourage people to hand over their land as soon as possible in order to complete 100% of the land handover by March.
Regarding the progress of component project 1, it remains challenging compared to the other two component projects. Of the total length of 16 km, the section undertaken by contractor Lizen is showing the best progress. This contractor has already paved 2 km with asphalt concrete. Total progress currently stands at 22%.
