On the evening of May 7, Bien Hoa City Police ( Dong Nai ) said they were coordinating with the Criminal Police Department to examine the scene, conduct autopsies, investigate and clarify the cause of the fire that burned down 2 houses, causing 4 casualties.
According to the police, Mr. Phan Hoan Uy Vu (48 years old) and Ms. DNB (43 years old, both living in Quyet Thang ward, Bien Hoa city) were in love with each other. About a year ago, there was a conflict between the two, so Ms. B. wanted to break up, but Mr. Vu did not agree.

At around 1:15 p.m. today, Mr. Vu went to buy a 10-liter can of gasoline and then went to Mrs. B's house in Quyet Thang ward with the intention of setting it on fire. When he arrived and saw that Mrs. B was not home, Mr. Vu unlocked the door and went into the house to pour gasoline and set it on fire.
After that, Mr. Vu drove a motorbike carrying a can of gasoline to the shop that Ms. B. rented to sell ornamental fish (on Ha Huy Giap Street, Quyet Thang Ward) with the intention of looking for Ms. B., but when he got there, he could not find Ms. B. At this time, in the shop there were Ms. NDCC (23 years old, Ms. B.'s daughter), Mr. TVN (29 years old, Ms. B.'s son-in-law) and Ms. TTHP (23 years old, Ms. B.'s niece).
Here, Mr. Vu continued to bring the gasoline can into the shop, poured gasoline around the shop and lit it on fire. Seeing that, Mr. N. ran over to struggle but failed, gasoline was poured on his leg and his body was burned by the fire.
The fire killed Mr. Vu on the spot, and three people in the store, Mrs. B.’s children and grandchildren, were severely burned and were taken to the emergency room by local residents. In addition, the fire burned down Mrs. B.’s house and the store she rented for business.
Initially, the police determined that the case had signs of murder.
