Connecting to form a modern development ecosystem.
Long Thanh urban area, centered around Long Thanh ward, boasts a strategically important geographical location in the heart of the Southern key economic region, approximately 40km east of Ho Chi Minh City. It is also adjacent to dynamic industrial areas such as Nhon Trach and the industrial and port area of Ba Ria - Vung Tau. This location provides favorable conditions for Long Thanh to play its role as a gateway, a connecting center, and a driving force for urban development in the region.
More importantly, with the Long Thanh Airport under construction in the area, Long Thanh ward has a significant advantage for future development. In the planning of Dong Nai city, to fully exploit and maximize the advantages of Long Thanh Airport, the city is developing a plan for the development of a Long Thanh Airport urban model and a free trade zone (FTZ) associated with the airport.
According to Nguyen Kim Long, Standing Committee Member of the Dong Nai City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai City People's Committee, Long Thanh is a hub for significant national and city-level development, notably Long Thanh Airport and numerous strategic transportation infrastructure projects such as the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, high-speed railway, and ring roads connecting to the largest economic development center, Ho Chi Minh City, as well as emerging urban areas, industrial zones, and modern commercial and service centers. These key projects will create new development opportunities, promote economic restructuring, increase investment attraction, improve the quality of life for residents, and transform Long Thanh into a crucial growth pole for Dong Nai in the future.
Speaking at a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Dong Nai City Party Committee on May 18th, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that Long Thanh, with its existing industrial system, logistics network, gateway location, and new urban space, must be connected into a modern development ecosystem, with high-tech industries, aviation services, forming a high-value service ecosystem, supporting industries, digital economy, green economy, and high-tech agriculture as pillars. “From Long Thanh, an ecosystem encompassing airport city, aviation services, trade, finance, conferences, exhibitions, training, healthcare, tourism, and other high-quality services must be formed,” General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized.
