PNJ voted 'Board of Directors of the Year'

PNJ was honored by VIOD as "Board of the Year 2022" at the AF6 annual forum in Hanoi , November 22.

According to a representative of Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), the above title recognizes the company's efforts in pioneering the application of new standards on governance and transparency in business activities according to international practices.

"We advocate integrating ESG standards (including environment, society, governance) into business operations, aiming at sustainable development, promoting green transformation and sustainable economic growth," said a representative of the unit.

Previously, the VIOD organizing committee carefully analyzed each listed company in the nomination for "Board of Directors of the Year 2022". The process includes: the design round of the evaluation criteria, preliminary round, and final round. The award honors leaders who demonstrate their capacity through strategic vision, optimizing shareholder benefits, and practicing governance according to standard practices.

In addition, PNJ was also honored with the "Highly Diverse Board of Directors", meeting the criteria of efficiency, gender balance, multi-generation, skills...

Throughout its production and business journey, PNJ has made many outstanding marks thanks to the appropriate orientation and strategy of the Board of Directors. From 2022, the unit will promote ESG, announcing the establishment of the Environmental, Social and Governance Committee.

"The ESG Committee standardizes operations according to international standards and enhances long-term strategy. This is an element for sustainable development and a measure of competitiveness," said a representative of the unit.

Thanks to the overall strategy of "connection - liberation - transformation", the Board of Directors has gradually led the enterprise to reach many milestones. In 2022, the company's revenue reached 33,876 billion VND; profit after tax was 1,811 billion VND.

PNJ's board of directors also promotes community activities. Over the past 5 years, the company has contributed nearly 6,000 billion VND to the state budget, supporting over one million people in difficulty.

In 2023, the Board of Directors aims to maintain and promote the power of compassion, taking care of the 2023 Tet holiday for poor households and disadvantaged workers nationwide. Specifically, the unit will continue to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City and partners to deploy the "2023 0-dong Tet Mini Supermarket" chain. The total cost of mobilization and contribution is up to 11.1 billion VND, expected to support nearly 20,000 people.

In addition, the unit also focuses on the environment, continuously upgrading the latest equipment to reduce loss, improve the quality and productivity of wastewater treatment to meet discharge standards.

"We have registered as members at the Ho Chi Minh City Energy Conservation Center and built a wastewater treatment system using chemical and biological technology," the company representative revealed.

In recent years, PNJ has been recognized for many achievements: Top 50 most effective business companies in Vietnam 2023 by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine; 9 consecutive times in the Top 50 excellent listed units organized by Forbes Vietnam... Brand Finance rated the unit as "The most valuable jewelry brand in Vietnam 2023", estimated at 428.43 million USD, an increase of 17% compared to 2022.
