Bam, Principal of Trung Chai Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, checks facilities, books, and school supplies during the summer.

Pa Tan commune currently has 7 school units from kindergarten to junior high school with 120 classrooms. Comrade Nguyen Van Giap - Chairman of Pa Tan commune People's Committee said: "The commune determines that protecting school property during the summer is not only the responsibility of the education sector but also a common task of the entire political system at the grassroots level. As soon as the 2024-2025 school year ends, the commune forces: militia, police coordinate with school units to proactively organize inspections, grasp the situation; propagate to people to raise awareness of protecting public property".
Along with that, schools proactively review and inventory assets and teaching equipment, and develop specific protection plans for each school. Valuable assets such as projectors, televisions, computers, digital teaching equipment, etc. are all gathered at the main school for centralized storage or sealed and stored in the principal's office with a double lock and security camera. Areas such as the computer room, library, and functional rooms are all checked for electrical systems, lightning protection equipment, corrugated iron roofs, and doors to prevent storms and sudden fires during the rainy season.
One of the highlights in the work of protecting school property during the summer in Pa Tan commune is the effective coordination between the school and the local government. Head of Nam O village - Ly A Lau shared: "Since the beginning of June, the village has assigned households living near the school to directly participate in monitoring, supervising, and promptly reporting any unusual signs. This is a shared responsibility because the school is a state property, closely associated with our children, and we must protect it together."
At Trung Chai Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, which has just invested in many facilities to serve the new general education program, asset management is also receiving special attention. According to teacher Nguyen Van Minh - Principal of the school, in previous years, during the summer, the school had a phenomenon of people and students coming to pick fruits, climbing walls, damaging outdoor facilities, and locking doors. This year, the school has arranged 2 security guards and assigned comrades in the Board of Directors to take turns on duty, so the above situation no longer occurs.
Schools are also encouraged to increase the application of technology in security work such as: installing more cameras in high-risk areas (kitchen, school supply warehouse, toilets and principal's office). The camera system is connected to the phones of comrades in the school board to help monitor and promptly detect when situations and incidents occur. The application of technology not only supports asset management but also serves well for internal inspection and supervision.
In addition to the risk of losing property, the major challenge for school property in Pa Tan commune is natural disasters, heavy rains causing landslides and flooding. To proactively respond, schools have coordinated with the commune's Disaster Prevention and Control Command to check drainage systems, reinforce corrugated iron roofs, and relocate furniture in rooms at risk of water seepage and roof leaks. Schools near streams or landslide areas are also required to have their own prevention plans and sign a commitment with the commune government. Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on disaster prevention and control and protection of common property have also been promoted through the village loudspeaker system, community meetings, and party cell activities.
With the strong direction of the commune government, the initiative of schools and the responsibility of local people through the models: "Commune protecting school points", "Family monitoring public property", up to now, Pa Tan commune has not recorded any cases of theft, fire or property damage occurring in schools. In the coming time, the commune will continue to promote inter-sectoral coordination, maintain a regular reporting regime between schools and functional forces. From there, gradually raise community awareness, protect public property to join hands in building a safe and sustainable learning environment for students.
