Journey back to the source
The Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, organized a traditional education journey for children in the 2025-2026 school year, themed "Journey to the Roots - I Love My Homeland Vinh Long, " attracting approximately 100 outstanding youth members.
At the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site (Long Duc Ward), students learned about many artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh; about his life and career, about the construction of the memorial by the army and people of Long Duc, visited President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house, the exhibition area and other items in the memorial site… From there, they gained a better understanding of the noble moral qualities and shining example of President Ho Chi Minh – a man who dedicated his life to the country and the happiness of the people.
During their visit to the Dong Khoi National Special Monument in Ben Tre (Dong Khoi commune), students learned about the history of the 1960 Dong Khoi movement, the starting point of the revolutionary struggle in Southern Vietnam.
Visiting the exhibition area showcasing artifacts and numerous valuable images and documents about the struggle of the army and people of Ben Tre helps students clearly visualize the historical context and fighting spirit of the Dong Khoi movement, demonstrating the indomitable will and unwavering spirit of our army and people amidst the gunfire of war.
According to Vo Quoc Thao, a student from Tan Quoi Trung Secondary School (Quoi An commune), studying history, he is very proud of the heroic fighting tradition of the nation through the stories told by his teachers. Today, visiting the historical site, he feels more clearly about the patriotic spirit, the process of building the Temple of Uncle Ho, and the Dong Khoi movement. From this, he understands and appreciates even more the sacrifices of the previous generations.
Tran Khanh Van, an 8th-grade student from Tran Phu Secondary School (Phuoc Hau Ward), shared: "Listening to the explanations and seeing the exhibits at the historical site, I understand more about the hardships and difficulties during the resistance war, as well as the heroic will and solidarity of our soldiers and people. I will try my best to study well so that I can become a useful person in the future and contribute to building a beautiful homeland."
For the people and students of Long Duc ward, the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple is very sacred, reflecting their love and respect for Uncle Ho and the tenacious struggle against the enemy more than half a century ago.
Ho Nguyen Ngoc Han, a 9th-grade student from Vo Thi Sau Kindergarten-Primary-Secondary School (Long Duc Ward), shared: "On this occasion, along with many other outstanding team members, I visited the Temple of Uncle Ho. I was very happy to learn about the Temple together, and I felt even more proud and learned many good things about the spirit of unity and the will to strive in studying and working."
Cultivating patriotism
At youth union branches and schools, traditional education activities for young people are always given attention, especially during holidays and anniversaries. Each trip to historical sites is a vibrant opportunity for traditional education, helping students raise their political awareness, cultivate revolutionary ideals, and strive for excellence in their studies and personal development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Tri, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union and Chairman of the Children's Council of Thanh Duc ward: To commemorate major national holidays, the ward's Youth Union, in collaboration with schools, organizes many activities to educate children and members about national traditions.
This includes taking students to visit historical sites and traditional educational landmarks such as the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple, the Vo Van Kiet Memorial Area, and the Pham Hung Memorial Temple, etc. Through these visits, students gain a deeper understanding of national heroes and the revolutionary struggle of our army and people, fostering patriotism, promoting heroic traditions, and encouraging them to strive harder in their studies and in their participation in the Youth Union.
For many years, Binh Minh Primary School (Tra Vinh Ward) has consistently organized traditional education activities for its students. During the curriculum, students participate in field trips and listen to explanations about the struggles and heroic examples of communist soldiers who intelligently and tenaciously fought to regain peace and independence for the Fatherland. Many students are deeply moved by these experiences.
Mai Hai Lam, a 4th-grade student from Binh Minh Primary School, expressed: "Going on the field trip with my friends and learning many things I had never known before from the teachers made me very happy! I learned that Uncle Ho and the heroic martyrs are great people who sacrificed for the country, and I will try my best to study hard to be a good child of Uncle Ho."
Ms. Ma Ngoc Huong, Principal of Binh Minh Primary School, said: "After the visit, the students enthusiastically participated in answering questions related to the historical site and its history, expressing their feelings about the trip. I am very happy and find the activity very meaningful. Recently, during the visit to the Vo Van Kiet Memorial Area, the students, wearing their red and yellow flag uniforms, gathered to sing the song 'Continuing the Story of Peace,' which deeply moved me and the other visitors."
Traditional educational activities contribute to fostering patriotism and national pride among young people, creating motivation for students to continue striving in their studies and training to meet the demands of current innovation and integration.
