With an additional 12 Elo from his Biel Grandmaster title, Quang Liem (Elo 2,740) jumped from 21st to 15th place in the world according to FIDE's monthly list. If all players are considered, Quang Liem is currently ranked 16th. However, Teimour Radjabov (2,747) was removed from the FIDE list because he did not play any standard games in the past 12 months. Therefore, Quang Liem rose one place to 15th place, his personal record since his previous highest position was 20.

Quang Liem is 12 Elo points behind Richard Rapport's world No. 10 ranking, and 95 behind Magnus Carlsen, the world No. 1.
