On June 25, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province announced that it had approved the planning of a duty-free zone of more than 744 hectares associated with Tam Hoa port, part of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, according to the construction zoning ratio of 1/2,000.
According to the planning project, the duty-free zone associated with Tam Hoa port is located in Tam Hoa commune (Nui Thanh district), including many functional sub-zones serving trade, industry and logistics. Specifically, industrial production land, warehouses and ports occupy the largest area with nearly 489 hectares; followed by technical infrastructure of 110 hectares, trees of more than 93 hectares, trade and services of more than 31 hectares, the rest is public land and security land.
The planning identifies 3 key areas: Area 1 is the administrative - commercial service center with public works, hotels, and commercial centers designed in a modern, synchronous architectural style. Area 2 is an industrial complex, warehouses and wharves with large-scale low-rise buildings, concentrated in clusters. Area 3 is the port and logistics area. In addition, the planning also arranges key works in each functional area such as: the commercial center cluster along the Truong Giang River in the North, the industrial park management center in the South and the logistics management center in the Eastern port area.
It is known that according to the planning for the 2021-2030 period, Chu Lai Open Economic Zone is oriented to become the nucleus and major development center of the region and the whole country. With a scale of more than 27,000 hectares, by the end of 2023, the economic zone will attract nearly 200 projects with a total registered capital of about 74,000 billion VND. Of which, 48 FDI projects with a registered capital of about 17,000 billion VND.
