In late June 2025, in harmony with the context of the country entering a new era, the era of national growth, the tourism industries of the two provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu also began to "intermingle" to return to the common home.
In the past six months, Ca Mau welcomed 1.63 million tourists, an increase of 32.6% over the same period last year and reaching 58.2% of the 2025 plan (2.8 million visitors). Of which, international visitors are estimated at 9,530, domestic visitors are estimated at more than 1.62 million; total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 2,140 billion, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2024 (VND 1,644.3 billion); reaching 51.2% of the 2025 plan and room occupancy rate is 62%.
In Bac Lieu , the total number of visitors to the locality in the past half year is estimated at 3.49 million, reaching 63.4% of the 2025 plan, up 12.2% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 1,295,000 visitors used accommodation services; total tourism revenue reached VND 2,750 billion, reaching 63.2% of the 2025 plan, up 7.4% over the same period in 2024. Of which, total revenue from restaurants and hotels is estimated at VND 1,080 billion, reaching 63.3% of the 2025 plan, up 9.7% over the same period in 2024.
Thus, in the first 6 months of 2025, the total number of visitors to both Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces reached 5,120,000, an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2024 (4,339,354); reaching 61.7% of the 2025 plan (8,300,000). Total tourism revenue of the two provinces is estimated at 4,890 billion VND, an increase of 16.3% over the same period in 2024 (4,204.3 billion VND); reaching 57.3% of the 2025 plan (8,526 billion).
The two provinces have 500 accommodation facilities serving tourists.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau, in the state management work over the past 6 months, the province is waiting for the Prime Minister to approve the general tasks to serve as a basis for implementing the master plan for the construction of the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area. Regarding the project preparation work, the province is carrying out the procedures to integrate the Comprehensive Communication and Promotion Project about Ca Mau until 2030; Project to build the image and local brand of Ca Mau province in the period of 2020 - 2025 into the Tourism Development Project.
Regarding tourism service establishments, the whole province of Ca Mau has 80 tourist accommodation establishments with 2,600 rooms; 34 community tourism areas, spots and households (of which 2 areas are recognized as provincial-level tourist areas; 2 spots are recognized as tourist spots eligible for eco-tourism and community tourism activities) and 9 travel business units.
Ca Mau is developing green tourism.
Meanwhile, Bac Lieu has 420 accommodation establishments with about 4,500 rooms. Of which, there are 160 tourist accommodation establishments (3 3-star hotels, 8 2-star hotels, 21 1-star hotels and accommodation establishments meeting tourist service standards), 12 typical tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta and 10 craft villages are effectively operating. Of which, the development of salt making in Bac Lieu has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
A series of tourism promotion activities
To achieve impressive tourism figures, over the past 6 months, Ca Mau province has effectively organized the Ca Mau - Destination 2025 Program; Tourism Promotion Program 2025, Plan to promote tourism development in Ca Mau province to ensure double-digit economic growth.
Specifically, the tourism industry has focused on coordinating to successfully organize events such as: Nghinh Ong Song Doc Festival in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district; National Ancestor Gratitude Ceremony in Dat Mui, Ngoc Hien district; Hung King's Death Anniversary.
In particular, Ca Mau has successfully organized events on the occasion of April 30 and May 1 holidays along with a series of related activities such as: Art program combined with fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day, the 5th Southern Folk Cake Festival, U Minh Forest Fragrance Event along with cultural activities, folk games, sports, fairs, art performances, OCOP product displays, folk cake competitions, organizing rural markets... The province also participates in tourism events organized by provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2025, VITM HaNoi International Tourism Fair 2025.
Meanwhile, Bac Lieu successfully organized the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2025. This is a typical cultural - tourism event of Bac Lieu before returning to the common home of Ca Mau. This event was organized on a large scale and effectively, contributing to promoting the image, tourism products and traditional cultural values of Bac Lieu to domestic and foreign tourists.
Before returning to the common home of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu province successfully organized the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2025.
At the Vietnam Salt Festival - Bac Lieu 2025, many outstanding activities were held such as: Workshop on salt tourism development orientation, display of models and technical advances in salt production, art program "Going to Bac Lieu to listen to Don ca tai tu", Classic car car parade and announcement ceremony - awarding ceremony of the tourism souvenir design contest. These are highlights that create positive effects in tourism promotion.
Communication and promotion activities have been promoted by Bac Lieu on many channels such as newspapers, radio, television, electronic information portals, fanpages, provincial tourism websites, etc. In addition, Bac Lieu has published 1,000 stylized publications bearing local cultural symbols, organized many competitions, performances, and photo exhibitions combined with tourism promotion. Khmer, Chinese and Don ca tai tu art clubs continue to promote their role in serving tourism at destinations.
Not only that, Bac Lieu also promotes cooperation and cultural exchange, welcoming many domestic and foreign delegations such as the Ministry of Culture of Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Bolykhamxay province (Laos), delegations from Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Giang; participating in displaying and introducing the culture, people, destinations, tourism products, and outstanding cuisine of Bac Lieu at fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province. In general, at fairs and events, hundreds of thousands of visitors have been attracted, contributing to widely promoting the potential strengths of tourism, unique culture, cuisine, and the image of Bac Lieu tourism to friends and people at home and abroad, increasing investment attraction in the tourism sector of Bac Lieu.
From July 1, Bac Lieu returns to the common roof of Ca Mau, the new province also follows the GRDP plan for 2025 of reaching 8%, creating a foundation to achieve double-digit growth. In particular, the tourism industry of Ca Mau province (after merging) will have a total number of visitors reaching 8,395,300 (an increase of 15.8% over the same period in 2024: 7,250,000). Of which, international visitors will be 131,795, domestic visitors will be 8,263,505; total revenue will reach 8,585 billion VND (an increase of 16.8% over the same period in 2024: 7,348 billion), room occupancy rate will reach 62% or more.
With the potential for tourism development after the merger, Ca Mau province continues to implement the Rural Tourism Development Program in the construction of new rural areas; Tourism Promotion Program in 2025; Digital Transformation Project in the field of tourism to 2030, vision to 2045 issued with Decision No. 223/QD-UBND dated May 20, 2025 of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province and build and implement the Project to develop the tourism product "Legendary U Minh Night"...
The next key task of the Ca Mau tourism industry in the last 6 months of 2025 is to implement Decision No. 509/QD-TTg dated June 13, 2024 of the Prime Minister on approving the Tourism System Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 and Decision No. 382/QD-TTg dated February 21, 2025 of the Prime Minister on promulgating the Plan to implement the Tourism System Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 (Nha Mat - Bac Lieu is included in the potential location for developing the National Tourism Area); establish the Master Plan for the Ca Mau Cape National Tourism Area (after the task is approved by the Prime Minister); investment project to develop the Dam Thi Tuong eco-tourism area; Hon Khoai Seaport, etc.
In the last months of the year, visitors to Ca Mau can also experience activities under the Ca Mau-Destination 2025 Program; Ca Mau Crab Festival; activities to ensure service for tourists on the occasion of National Day September 2, New Year's Day, Lunar New Year and tourism activities.
