In the History exam of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam according to the 2018 Program, there is an increase in questions using document passages, and current events appear. The exam includes questions not only in History but also in combination with Geography knowledge.

The History exam of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program has 2 parts: Part I with 24 multiple choice questions; Part II has 4 true-false multiple choice questions, each question has 4 questions. Time to complete the test is 50 minutes.

This year’s exam will feature a cluster question format, which provides a piece of material, based on which candidates will answer three multiple-choice questions. According to teachers, this type of question will test candidates’ ability to read and use material, limiting memorization. This is considered a new trend in testing and assessment.

“The exam mainly exploits knowledge of grade 12, covering all three current textbooks. The questions are designed to ensure that students studying any textbook can do the test. There are no questions containing knowledge that only appears in one textbook, demonstrating the spirit of unity in testing and assessment,” commented a teacher from the Social Sciences Department, HOCMAI Education System.

About 10% of the questions in the 11th grade are about socialism from 1917 to present and the war to defend the fatherland and the war of national liberation in Vietnamese history (before the August Revolution in 1945). In particular, there are questions about the study topic in the content of international integration.

The questions in the exam fully assess the specific abilities of the History subject, including: the ability to learn about history through approaching events and characters, such as questions 1, 2, 6 (exam code 0810) ...; the ability to perceive and think historically when analyzing, comparing, and evaluating issues shown in questions 9, 10, 15, 23 ...; These are the differentiated questions of the exam.

According to teachers, this year's exam has many notable changes such as: Increasing questions using document passages, requiring candidates to analyze information, apply learned knowledge; Exam questions include current content, suitable for real-life situations such as international integration issues.

At the same time, the integration trend is clearly shown in the exam, the questions are not only purely historical but also combined with Geography knowledge, such as question 14, code 0810.

The exam has a high level of differentiation, especially in the multiple choice part. Candidates must clearly understand the historical concepts of "deep international integration", "three strategic regions" "parallel" combination", the nature of historical events and phenomena to be able to make correct or incorrect judgments.

The high school graduation exam for History under the new curriculum does not test the mechanical “memorization” of historical events, but focuses on assessing the subject’s specific abilities – using historical documents, explaining and evaluating history as well as the ability to apply historical knowledge. From this year’s exam, teachers advise candidates of the next course to prepare carefully in terms of knowledge: Mastering grade 12 knowledge, which is the core part of the exam, while practicing reading comprehension and analysis skills of historical documents; Learning how to analyze, compare events and draw historical lessons instead of just memorizing time and characters…
