After 5 years of implementing the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight against plastic waste", the Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations in the province have achieved many remarkable results. More than 2,700 models of self-managed groups and self-managed routes for environmental protection have been formed in residential areas, schools and in member organizations.
In many residential areas, people have unanimously and voluntarily contributed funds to equip trash bins and build organic waste compost tanks, contributing to raising public awareness in environmental protection. Thanks to the active mobilization of the Fatherland Front and member organizations at all levels in the province, a large number of union members, members of self-managed groups and organizations, and people have joined hands to contribute to the construction of more than 71,000 trash treatment tanks and pits; installed more than 26,000 trash bins and more than 960 trash carts. In addition, 22,300 environmentally friendly shopping lanes and more than 20,000 items to support waste collection have been donated to people. In particular, 639 projects and models of producing ecological bricks from plastic waste have been deployed, with a total estimated value of more than 8.5 billion VND. The amount of waste collected and treated to date is estimated at over 95,000 tons, contributing significantly to building a green-clean-beautiful living environment.
An Tuong Ward, Tuyen Quang City is one of the typical localities in effectively implementing the model of self-managed environmental protection groups. Responding to the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to treat waste and fight plastic waste", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward has actively built 19 self-managed group models, including 85 groups with 247 core members. These groups have proactively propagated and mobilized people to classify waste at source and called for the cooperation of units and organizations in the socialization of environmental protection. The ward has mobilized 65 households with garden land to invest in building organic waste compost tanks at home; At the same time, we coordinated the collection of more than 800 plastic bottles and jars to recycle into decorative wall vases on three streets and collected 2,400 plastic bottles to make eco-bricks, thereby building 60m of seats at the Cultural House of the residential group - both contributing to the treatment of plastic waste and beautifying the urban landscape.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a member of the self-management group for environmental protection in residential area Group 8, An Tuong Ward, shared: “Since the ward implemented the model of building organic waste compost tanks, the awareness of the people in the group has changed significantly. I have mobilized households with garden land to build organic waste compost tanks, contributing to reducing pollution from waste.”
Through various forms, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels in the province have flexibly deployed propaganda activities on the harmful effects of waste, plastic waste and environmental pollution to cadres, civil servants, union members, association members and the general public. Information has been widely disseminated through mass activities, grassroots broadcasting systems, training courses as well as on social networking platforms, contributing to raising awareness and self-management in waste classification and maintaining environmental hygiene in the living environment. In residential areas, self-management groups have actively mobilized people to clean up village roads, plant flowers, classify and recycle plastic waste, and raise funds to support the poor. These practical activities have contributed to changing habits, raising community awareness, building a bright-green-clean-beautiful living environment, towards sustainable development.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Tan Phuc Residential Group, Son Duong Town, Son Duong District said: “Before there was no model, each house had its own style. Those who did not have trash cans would just throw trash on the street, which was very unsightly and did not protect the living environment. Since the self-management model was introduced, every house has a covered trash can, trash is collected cleanly, does not cause pollution, and sanitation workers find it easy to work.”
At the conference to summarize the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste" for the period of 2020-2025, which took place on June 6, 2025, Ms. Tang Thi Duong, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuyen Quang province affirmed: "The movement has achieved positive results, with many good models, creative and effective methods".
