Mr. Lu Van Anh (born in 1996), was born and raised in the mountainous district of Quy Chau, Nghe An. After graduating from the Agricultural Extension Department of Vinh University, the engineer continued to study abroad in Israel with the dream of gaining experience to return to his hometown to start a business. |
After finishing his studies abroad, in 2022, he chose Ha Tinh as a place to learn about growing melons before returning home to start a business . However, realizing that the weather conditions in his hometown were not suitable for growing melons, he decided to stay in Ha Tinh and join the Thach Ha Vegetable and Fruit Cooperative. He then rented land to grow vegetables and fruits in Thach Ha ward, Ha Tinh city . |
Currently, he and other members of the cooperative rent a 1-hectare plot of land to grow melons and peony grapes. To implement the model, he and other members of the cooperative built 6 greenhouses to grow melons and 1 greenhouse to grow peony grapes. |
Every year, his garden harvests 2 crops of melons with 2,500 plants, starting from early March to September; 1 crop of grapes with 300 plants from early February to late June. |
According to statistics, the yield of melons each year is about 20 tons, the selling price ranges from 35,000-40,000 VND/kg, the melon model brings in an income of about 700-800 million VND/year. |
The peony grape variety has been planted for 3 years now, growing well and giving high income. |
Melons in Mr. Lu Van Anh's garden are in harvest season. Because they are grown organically, they are trusted and chosen by customers, and are harvested and consumed as they are harvested. |
"On the barren land , after building a model of growing melons and grapes, we have achieved many successes. Although we have encountered many failures due to the weather and partly due to lack of experience, thanks to the application of basic techniques, the melon and grape crops have been favorable so far," said Mr. Lu Van Anh. |
The leader of Thach Ha ward, Ha Tinh city said that the operation of the vegetable and fruit cooperative model in Thach Ha ward is developing very well. In particular, the grape and melon growing model of Mr. Lu Van Anh is a sustainable model, bringing high profits. In addition, the model is currently introducing a new crop, the grape species, for trial planting, but the initial results are positive. If in the future, the grape growing develops well, it will propose to propagate, transfer the production process, and expand further among households.
