The highlight of the opening day was 15-year-old golfer Ho Anh Huy, who scored a round of 68 strokes (-4) with 5 birdies and only 1 bogey, including a series of 3 consecutive birdies from holes 5 to 7. This excellent performance puts Anh Huy temporarily in T3 position on the individual leaderboard.
Nguyen Anh Minh also made a significant contribution to the team score with a round of 71 strokes (-1), temporarily placing him T5 in the individual standings. The other two athletes on the men's team, Nguyen Tuan Anh and Nguyen Trong Hoang, shot 75 strokes (+3) and 76 strokes (+4) respectively.
In the men's individual event, Bregente Rolando (Philippines) and Laopakdee Pongsapak (Thailand) are leading with the same score of 65 strokes (-7).

According to the competition format, the men's team score is calculated based on the performance of the three golfers with the best results in each round. Therefore, Vietnam currently has a total score of -2, temporarily leading alongside Thailand after the first day of competition.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Duong, team leader of the Vietnamese men's golf team, the men's team has had a relatively favorable start at the SEA Games 33, and we still need to devise appropriate strategies for the following days of competition so that the athletes can make a breakthrough.
In the women's event, Vietnamese golfers faced some difficulties in the opening round. Le Chuc An shot 76 strokes (+4), while Le Nguyen Minh Anh and Nguyen Viet Gia Han scored 81 strokes (+9) and 82 strokes (+10) respectively. Using the scoring system that takes the two best results, the women's team currently has a total of +13, placing them temporarily in 6th position.
